Hey! My name is Thale :)
I am from Norway and am 19 years old. I am taking a couple gap years before starting my studies, most likely in something history and culture related :)
Over the last few years I have found passion and meaning in traditional crafts such as embroidery and a few different weaving techniques, as well as in researching how different cultures interact to better understand how these crafts evolve. I have also found great joy in other forms of physical labour like garden landscaping and home renovating, often helping friends and family with their projects. During my three months stay on Svalbard, an island close to the North Pole this summer, I realised I wanted to see more of the world and learn from all the world has to offer.
My overall goal with Workaway and travel in general is to learn about different cultures, nature and myself through meeting people from all walks of life!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
When it comes to previous work experience, I have worked as a server at a restaurant for a few years, I have worked at a pub and most recently I worked at the only grocery store on Svalbard.
I have helped out with quite a few home renovation projects, like painting walls, laying new flooring, putting up walls, building furniture, etc. I’ve done some garden landscaping, designing, planting, pruning, and other general maintenance. So, in short, I know my way around a basic toolbox, and I am not afraid to get my hands dirty.
As for skills I have gained trough my hobbies, I know how to tablet weave, pick-up band weave, and how to make patterns. I know some basic embroidery and some sewing, but I would love to learn more and to practise the skills I already have.

There are many things I enjoy, without necessarily being any good at or experienced with, like baking, music, painting, writing, hiking, bouldering etc. but that list is always expanding, and I am always open to new interests!
