Hi! :)
I'm Aino, I'm 19 years old and from Finland. After I finished high school in spring 2025 at the German School of Helsinki, I did a Gap Year in which I travelled to Iceland, Canada, Germany, Scotland, South Africa, Namibia and Kazakhstan. During my travels, I stayed with two hosts that I had found on Workaway, but mostly I used relations and stayed with people, who know someone who knows someone who knows me, haha! I think, this is the best way to get to know the culture and everyday life, which I love to learn about!
I grew up bilingually, my first language is German and second is Finnish and I also speak English and French fluently. For my latest travel to Kazakhstan, I started to learn Russian, too, and I would be happy to continue learning and practising it! But overall, I love to learn about different languages, I even considered stydying linguistics. Even though I'm very interested in languages, in the end my university decided for me, that my application for physics would be accepted and I'm very happy with that, too! I have been thinking about specialising into Renewable Energies or so after my Bachelor, as this topic as well interests me a lot.
But what about my hobbies? I do photography since I was 11 years old. Usually nature photography, but my portraits are also really good (I put some of my photographs to the photowall, though no portrait, as the person would have to be okay with it).
At home and also when travelling, I love to bake. Actually, my baking has been a huge pleasure to the people I have stayed with and it's basically my way to say "Thank you". XD So, if you don't eat sweets, I'm sorry, but we don't match.
When I'm at home, I go to my taekwondo training, which I enjoy really much. I'm also in scouts, though I'm not very active anymore, mostly I like to go to scout camps in summer. In the past, I did 8 years of pottery and I love the feeling of creating something new after your own imagination. I play piano, I read fantasy and this spring I discovered that I'm a enthusiastic gardener (though my gardening is me trying to do things in the best way for nature to become it's most own and beautiful version of itself and therefore sadly considered a little "wild"). My family owns a sailing boat and in summer, we love to discover the Finnish Archipelago with it. In the last years, I was also happy to be a little bit the meeting point of my friends group outside of school, because I love to play card and board games and organised games nights every now and then XD

Yes! Teach me your language! :D I started to learn Russian, so that's where I put my efforts right now, but every language is interesting and worth learning! I myself can teach German and Finnish, as I'm native speaker in both :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

What skills do I have?
I'm talented in basically any handicraft: knitting, sewing, crochet, pottery, carpentry,... I might not be a professional in most of them, but I'm a very fast learner and I can get into anything I want to know more about and learn.
I have noticed that I enjoy most to stay with a family, so I like to look after kids and be surrounded by that chaotic family life. And as I was pretty good in school and my friends go-to for explanations in maths, I'm happy to help any kid who's struggeling in whatever subject.
And in the end, I'm very responsible with tasks I do, so you don't have to fear that I wouldn't do something properly :)
