Description
Hi, we are Emma and Sydney! We are friends who met while working as environmental educators, and we are excited to continue working together- but this time while on a work-away! We are both recent college graduates with specialization in environmental science and studies. We both love nature and exploring the world outside.
Emma is a big backpacker, and is happiest when she is hiking and outside! Emma has traveled all throughout the Unites States to hike and play, and most recently got back from backpacking through France. She is outgoing, active, and loves making new friends and meeting new people! She can't wait for this work-away to immerse herself in sustainable living in a different country! When not outside, you can find her practicing yoga, reading, or cooking.
Sydney excited for a new adventure because she loves expanding her world view and is most at peace when she is surrounded by nature and contributing to a project that gives her purpose! She has explored the United States as wells as studied abroad in Ecuador where she designed a sustainable project, trekked through the rainforest, and connected with locals to culturally immerse herself. She runs, crafts, bakes, and gardens in her spare time.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
We both have experience in many different types of work! Most recently, we both worked together at a nature center in environmental education and community science. We educated children and adults on the natural world around us, and contributed to ecological research! We spent a lot of time with kids, so we developed skills in childcare, conflict resolution, and play! Some hard skills we acquired were manual labor (cutting down trees, maintaining native plant gardens, managing invasive species, etc) as well as marketing and communications, including video editing and graphic design, if you need a hand with that at all!
Emma's background and education s in environmental biology, and she has done all sorts of environmental research, from managing and mapping plant populations in the pacific northwest, to surveying frogs in the midwest. She grew up on a farm, and has been gardening her entire life, as well as taking care of various livestock. On her family's homestead she grew up making soap, canning vegetables, and learning how to cook!
Sydney's degree is in environmental studies, and she has participated in work to complement her background and love for adventure. In addition to working at the nature center she has created a mapping system to find the impact of community planning practices on hurricane recovery and managed an environmental club at her college to cultivate community. She is familiar with plant care from her family's vegetable garden, but would love to learn more about farming on a larger scale.
