Hi,
I am Sophie. I started travelling after I finished school in 2023. Ever since then I fell in love with it. I discovered that I prefer slowing down my journey by staying longer at some places to meet new people, creat real connections, discover their culture and listen to their life stories. I love being outdoors and I like to go on hikes, in Australia I discovered multi-day hikes. I am also a big foodie who is never afraid to try something new.
Travelling opened my eyes for new adventures but it also taught me a lot about myself and who I wanna be. I wanna meet more people from all around the world to share stories and make awesome memories with them.

I am an animal lover who isn't even bothered by spiders, back at home it was my responsibility to take care of our rescue dog, I took her on her daily walks, fed her and played with her. I also took care of my friends rabbits and cat while they were on vacation.
In 2022/23 I was a tennis coach for 1.5 years, I have experience in teaching groups of kids and managing to keep them motivated and to show them the importance of fair play. I love being around kids and playing with them as well as doing the daily tasks with them.
In Germany I also worked as a strawberry seller and on a corn maze. In Australia I worked for six months in a small, family owned fruit and vegetable warehouse as a picker and a delivery driver. I am a hard working person who's able to motivated others and I am passionate about what I do.
I am physically fit and have no problem doing manual work and getting my hands dirty.

This week we said goodbye to Sophie from the farm ( the German goddess of rain) I always find it amazing that our international visitors are so much more fluent in English than most of us.. Sophie on her gap year from the South of Germany was able to teach us a few new phrases.
Sophie breezed into Tasmania from Melbourne..
Where she became fluent… read more in swearing at a high end fruit and vegetable warehouse delivering to some of Melbourne’s finest restaurants.
Sophie became woven into the fabric at the farm after negotiating Mable the Maremma (snapping and snarling at her every time she entered a room) .. Pretty soon she was the dog’s favourite with Reg sleeping on her bed and Mable stopping her for a pat every time she walked past…
Sophie joined in with everything we had to offer and thrilled us with her Cultural delights including her violin skills after restringing Emma’s violin. Sophie came ready for an adventure and some hard work. She turned her hand to everything and delighted us with some of her favourite recipes. We had Bavarian stuffed capsicum , spicy eastern block pumpkin soup…
The most beautiful zucchini chocolate cake along with a perfect rhubarb cake ( rhabarber cuchin) all fashioned on our barbecue. On the last evening together she made spaetzle .. (a German delicacy) …. from scratch. Emma and Sophie also baked Sourdough bread and cinnamon scrolls which we are still enjoying
There was so many other tasks that she turned her hand to …. Preparing garden beds, planting garlic, sewing and manufacturing linen for Emma’s Bowen Therapy room, Whipper snipping ,cooking , cleaning , Splitting firewood … and generally helping in any way she could .
An enthusiastic dancer, Sophie let us into her playlists of German pop, rock, rap and polka as she worked and also joined us for our Friday night live music pilgrimage to the Ulverstone Wharf.. Although we were busy we were able to take Sophie to a few of the local sightseeing spots including Boat Harbour, Dip Falls and she joined me on a plumbing trip to Strahan and Zeehan on the West Coast . We also got to see the Aurora Australis together
Sophie joined me in my Ted Lasso addiction (3 episodes per night) including a 3am marathon to watch the final episode on her last night with us.
We loved our time together with you Sophie. You were a delight to have around and left us both with tears in our eyes as the bus pulled away taking you to your next adventure.. Reg,Mable,Disco Flambé and the chickens are also missing your kindness and gentle way with animals
Have a great time with your parents as you travel down the the West Coast of Australia and then an equally fantastic adventure with your sister in Japan.
