  • Description

    Hiiii :)

    A little bit about me:

I’m originally from Barcelona, Spain, where I lived until I was 19. After finishing my A-levels, I started a degree in Economics in Barcelona, however, after finishing my first year, I realised it was not for me, so I moved to London as an au pair.

The plan was to stay for a year in London and then return to Barcelona. However, I loved it so much that I decided to stay and apply to university there. I was accepted into university and stayed in London for five more years. While completing my Psychology degree I also worked as a barista in a specialty coffee shop (this is where my passion for coffee began).

Once I finished my degree back in 2023, I moved back to Barcelona and got an office job as an HR and stayed for 2 years. Unfortunately, the company closed (February 2025), and found myself a little bit lost on what to do next.

I enjoyed working in Human Resources. However, I was not passionate about it. I realised that I was craving that human interaction which makes me feel connected to people. I also felt out of place in Barcelona, like it was not longer where I felt like home.

    What am I passionate about?
    - Coffee, like really, really good coffee!
    - Human connections
    - Travelling
    - Snowboarding
    - Art

Which brings us to the present. Knowing that I did not want to stay in Barcelona, I joined Workaway and decided that my first step must be in Japan. Why? I am super interested in their culture, their way of living, their food, and anime. I will be in Japan from November 2025 to November 2026 with the Working Holiday Visa.

I ask myself this question: “When I am 80, will I be happy with what I have done/achieved during my life?”

So that’s me, someone who wants to travel, meet different cultures, be useful, and learn as much as possible from people!

Can’t wait to talk to you :))

I have been studying Japanese for 6 months now but I am far from intermediate. I would be super open to do some language exchange (this could be English, Spanish and even Catalan) :)

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

    - I am proud to say that I do amazing coffee :) I have been a barista in speciality coffee shops in London and Barcelona for 5 years - from dial in to latte art!
I can also make V60s and batch brews, although it is more common to drink espresso in London & Spain. This is why I know a little bit more on how to make better recipes in espresso machines than in filter coffees.

    - In some of the coffee shops, I was also responsable to cook some sweets & brunch meals (cakes, scramble eggs, granola, sandwiches... you know the drill!). Not my strong suit, but I can defend myself with basic recipes.

    - Obvs, with that came customer service & hospitality. I think this was one of my favourite things when working, the treatment with customers. I have meet so many amazing people and created fantastic connections and friendships. I started working in Hospitality when I was 16 years old.

    - I have also knowledge of Human Resources (Payroll, Recruitment, Company Policies, etc). I worked in a startup for 2 years and learned ton of laws and processes involving HR.

    - I am also great with kids. I was an Aupair for a year in London where I took care of two lovely kids (Samy, 3 years old & Nora, 8 years old). This was an experience which I enjoyed more than I imagined. I created a fantastic friendship with the whole family and after 7 years I am still in contact with them. :)

    - I am a very handy person. Since I was little, all my hobbies have been "active" - drawing, swimming, taekwondo, padel, ski...). I love working with my hands and I am always open to learn new skills!

    - I have studied Psychology, so I am a good listener and deeply sympathetic. I love feeling useful, which it makes me enjoy any task.

  • Autres infos...

I am a social person who likes to get to know people from all over the world.

I am more of a "let's get some breakfast" than a "let's go party" kind of plan. I love hiking and discovering new places. I also love food, so I will always say yes to try something new. A goal of mine is to come back from my year in Japan with lots of new recipes :)

What I love more in the world? - my Akita Inu named あいこ, Aiko-chan (I have updated some pictures for you to enjoy) :)

A little fun fact: my curiosity for Japan started thanks to my surname, which is Edo, and since I was little I was told as a "joke" that I might have Japanese ancestors. Who knows, maybe I do have!
