Description

Hello! We’re a recently retired, easygoing couple who love to travel, experience other cultures, and learn new skills.

Kurt: I grew up on a farm in Virginia, tending goats, chickens, cattle, and a large garden. I flew helicopters for a while, traveled the world, and ended up as a college writing professor. I love the outdoors and have many hobbies and interests, including DIY/renovation, gardening, forestry, animal care, cooking, cheesemaking, charcuterie, and writing.

Lisa: I grew up in a rural area helping in the vegetable garden, taking care of pets and household chores, playing outdoors, crafting, babysitting cousins, enjoying Sunday picnics and intergenerational softball games with extended family. I taught elementary school and college for years, specializing in teaching English to multilingual children and adults. I’ve taught English and trained teachers here in the US and in Brazil, China, Japan, Kenya, Korea, and Turkey. I love to take care of my hens, spend time with the grandchildren, laugh with friends, and volunteer in my local community and abroad.

We are both responsible, honest, and tolerant. We’re Covid vaxxed and boosted, non-smokers, adventurous omnivores, and flexible about travel dates.

We’re happy to chat with prospective hosts via Google Duo, Messenger video, Skype, or whatever!
