  • Description

Hi there, i'm Marius, 37 years old and born in Düsseldorf in Germany. All my life, traveling and exploring was an important part of my life, whether going on a bike trip with my dad to Slovakia or canooing with my mum through northern Germany or spending a school year abroad in Australia, when i was 15.
After i finished school, i studied Sportsmanagement and worked a couple of years as a travel guide in different countries in Europe (i.e. Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Spain), showing german tourists the area on skies, mountainbikes, hikes and the likes.
I love to get to know new places, a different culture, learning new languages and above all, meeting people, hearing their stories, getting inspiration and sharing life experience. That's why i also worked as a social worker for 2 years, learning all about mental illnesses, while i tried to get some structure into their daily life by helping with household chores, doctors appointments, etc.
But i always had this dream of working and living on a camping site one day and in Juli 2022 i got the chance to do that in lush Münsterland in Germany, working full-time as a waiter in the restaurant and living in a cosy little campervan!
Since May 2025 i moved to the "three-country-corner" of Switzerland, France and Germany and started working as a train conductor, living in a shared house community with 8 other people. It really feels like a family, only without any parents telling you what to do :)
Once a week i'm helping refugee-kids with their homework and it's absolutely rewarding seeing the kids being proud of themselves and how quickly they are learning german!

Plus de détails sur les langues qui m'intéressent
I am really interested in learning new languages, even only basic vocabulary, because i realised during my travels, how many doors it can open and how often people smile at your little trys. Here and there i also taught german and englisch to migrants in Germany or to kids in South Africa and i would call myself a patient person, who can motivate pupils and can guide them in small steps. For two years i had a really nice tandem with a family from Syria, which fled to Germany and they were teaching me arabic and i taught them german and in the process we learned so much about each others culture, therefore i really enjoyed this kind of exchange! But opportunities like learning the georgian alphabet and some basic words on a train trip there, speaking french with my french flat-mate or having a lot of polish colleagues in a summer job and spontanously learning polish intrigue me very often...

I am definitely a social and communicative guy, who gets along with any kind of people and doesn't need a long time to adapt to a new place. I love to learn about the history of a region or a city, hear some local insights and cultural habits and since i am really flexible i try to adapt to the lifestyle i encounter, be it a muslim host family in Cape Town and working in a kindergarten nearby or a honey bee farm in rural Canada, harvesting honey all summer or feeding huskies in Norway and arranging beaver and elk-safaris...
My favourite jobs are the ones with personal interaction and/or outdoors, so i couldn't work in an office for long, but tell me to dig out the garden, walk the dogs, play with the children, teach somebody a language, i'm in :)
I also worked as a private teacher and babysitter a couple of times, so i would say i have a lot of patience with people of any age.
My whole life i love doing all kinds of sports, biking, running, yoga, fitness, swimming, here and there working as a coach or organising a sports event, so if that sort of skill is needed in any kind, you can count on me...

  • Autres infos...

When i have enough time, i like to put a little bit of adventure to my trips, since i'm not the five-star-hotel-type, for example hitch hiking (where you meet super interesting people and have a certain spontanous touch to the route), bike-packing with a tent for a couple of weeks and over borders, surfing on peoples couches during backpacking trips, because i love see how people live and what kind of jobs they have and what their habits are...
I also like to reduce my time on social media and my phone, detoxing and being out in the nature while im doing those kind of trips, so that's why my grandma is sometimes worried about me, but i always tell her, that's what's keeping me alife, exploring the world, traveling, trying new things and as a good grand-child i still let her know in between where i am of course :)
