  • Description

Being outside & connecting with others are the two things that bring me happiness from life & those two factors are the driving force behind my decision to travel & explore NZ & beyond.

I love being outdoors whether that be climbing, hiking or running. I developed my obsession with running during lockdown; with the motivation to stay focussed and get healthy during a challenging time! Within 8 months I completed my first half marathon & my first marathon only 10 months later. These achievements show determination and resilience - which are two skills I adapt to all aspects of my life.

Setting myself goals is something I know that I need to do to feel fulfilled in life. As a compassionate & caring person helping others is at the forefront of my goals & if I can achieve this in my time traveling I will be more than happy.

I currently volunteer for my local park run in Penistone, Sheffield. It is a great opportunity to encourage others to be outside & experience the feeling taking part in something can offer & being part of a community that is supportive & encouraging. I love this event so much!

I am self-driven and determined to live a full-filled, joyous life & I am so excited to start a new journey & begin to make new memories & learn new things about my inner-self & other cultures.

I want to immerse myself in this next chapter, to it's fullest potential!

Without coming across as boastful I would say that I am a 'Jack of All Trades' when it comes to learning and acquiring new skills. This comes from the desire to learn new things & being resourceful if I stumble across a challenge/task that I am unsure of.

However, the most important thing I have learnt in life is to not be afraid of asking for help. As the other saying goes, 'A problem Shared is a Problem Halved', and this is so true!

During my early teens I spent a few years working in a small, independent farm shop, about 5KM from my family home. During my time here I worked a pot-washer, waitress, barista, cleaner & chef! We were a very small team so everyone would muck in and keep the place going like a well oiled machine! I learnt so much from this job & I loved meeting new people that walked through the door every weekend. The energy was vibrant, surrounded by the countryside & farm animals & the coffee tasted great - of course, made by yours truly!

After the Farm Shop, I took the plunge to leave the countryside behind to follow my career into the world of fashion, as I was accepted on the Fashion Management & Communications course at Sheffield Hallam University (the greenest city in the UK, so I wasn't leaving too much behind). Here is where I worked as a part-time bar supervisor for a very energetic, exciting bar in the Centre of Sheffield.

Taking my skills that I had gained from working in the Farm Shop allowed me to move up in the ranks in a new role, where I gained more responsibility of managing other bar staff. As you can imagine, this was a much more fast paced environment to work in. I discovered that I worked very well under pressure & I was able to keep team moral high on those busy shifts! Communication & compassion was vital within this role & I loved every minute of it! I made friends that have lasted a life time.

Whilst working in the bar I was also doing my studies. Fashion, arts & culture are a strong part of my DNA so I absolutely loved my course and the opportunities it offered me.

After graduation university with a 1st class degree, I was ready to make the move to London to pursue a career in fashion!

I spent the next 12 months living there and interning for multiple different roles a stylist, seamstress, copywriter & p.a for a photographer.

However, I was missing the other part that builds my DNA & that is the great outdoors. So, after some contemplation I decided I wanted to go travelling around Europe & so I did!

I have learnt that life can give you as much as you are determined to get & I want to experience as much as possible & meet as many likeminded people along the way!
