Hey there!

I'm Ruben, 30 years old and from Netherlands. I've been working as a certified arborist (tree worker) for the past 10 years and have enjoyed working professionally in a variety of countries across Europe. Through out those years I've gained a wealth of experience in many fields such as landscaping, agriculture, carpentry and woodworking.

Next to my profession I also avidly enjoy the outdoors and nature. In particular I love hiking, climbing, biking, and camping. I have many experiences and stories which I enjoy sharing with people, I'm very easy going and naturally make friends where ever I find myself.

For my next challenge I have my sights set on North America! Particularly I want to experience the vastness of British Columbia, immerse myself in the cultures, explore the breathtaking landscapes, learn to fish, and create everlasting memories!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm a tree care professional with 10 years of experience. This means I'm highly skilled with handling chainsaws, pruning all kinds of trees (including fruit trees), evaluating tree health, complex felling, as well as wood processing (milling planks and chopping firewood)

During these 10 years I've also done my fair share of landscaping work. This includes maintaining gardens and green spaces for both private and public clients. I've built many gardens from scratch which included a variety of features such as ponds, terraces, fences, driveways and much more. The design and planning process as well as the logistics behind such projects are also familiar to me and I'm licensed (at least in Europe) to drive with trailers and tractors.

I take pride in being a hardworking and ambitious individual and have found creative outlets within my profession that I'm passionate about. I love woodworking are creating things out of wood. I have my own little wood mill and regularly mill planks with which I build furniture or interior features like shelves or lamps as well as sheds and small cabins.

Above everything I am a people person and enjoy being a helpful and contributing member of a community. I love listening to experiences and learning from others. I find it enriching to see things from different perspectives and to achieve things as a team.

When I arrive I hope to buy a car with off-road capabilities. I love both exploring and camping and it has long been a dream of mine to convert a 4x4 capable vehicle (truck or SUV) into an adventure machine with which I'm able to head out into the wilderness and experience some of the purest nature this earth has to offer for days on end.
