  • Description

Hi, I’m Rosemarie from England who loves travelling (former air stewardess), meeting new people, working with animals, babies and children and learning about different cultures. I’m hard working and love challenges. I’ve just returned from volunteering in Tanzania with Twiga Vision. This was mainly teaching single mothers to sew and. Ewing involved with a local primary school. Last year I stayed at Tenerife Horse Rescue Sanctuary and had a great time learning about sustainable living. I’ve also recently enjoyed volunteering in Costa Rica saving turtles.
Throughout my life I have volunteered in the UK many times and in several different countries.
I’ve always been a bit of a hippy and living in very basic accommodation doesn’t phase me. I love being in nature, sitting by a fire at night watching the stars is my kind of relaxation.
I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie and have jumped out of a plane, flown on top of a plane (wing-walked), skied, scuba dived etc and have yet to go fly boarding and do a bungee jump! I will be returning to Tanzania in December to climb Kilimanjaro and pop into the project with more donations that I’ve recently been to.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’m really experienced with babies and children. Firstly looking after two small boys when working as an Au-Pair in Germany then bringing up my three children and now regularly caring for my grandchildren. I spent several years volunteering in an Indonesian orphanage and presently co- run a baby and toddler group at my church regularly.
I love animals big and small and am happy and calm around them.
I’ve taught English, various crafts and swimming in the past.
I’m excellent at sewing from making bridal wear and curtains to replacing zips and turning up hems. I’m also pretty handy in the kitchen whether cooking, baking or cleaning.
I’m a reliable person, have good communication skills, adaptable and good at problem solving.

  • Autres infos...

Taking my family dogs for a walk in the countryside or along the river or beach is one of my greatest pleasures. I swim regularly and do yoga.

I enjoy making Montessori educational toddler books. These include colour matching, counting, learning to tie laces, make plaits, doing up buttons, poppers, hooks and eyes for example. I also love sewing with beads and card making.

For the past two years I have been helping with renovating a 100 year old Dutch barge. This has included scraping barnacles off the hull, grinding, painting and anything else asked of me. This is for a charity and has been an excellent way of learning new skills and meeting new people.

My patience allows me to enjoy jigsaws but I also love playing Articulate, Pictionary and Green Bowl.
I seem to be pretty good at keeping small children occupied and have a good imagination as my younger grandchildren love made up games.

I’m working on another novel so being a ‘digital nomad/house sitter’ would encourage me to write a few more chapters. Clearly though, I love the bustle of family home life and would very much enjoy being integrated and learning about different cultures.
