Description
I am a children’s mental health nurse from the UK taking a break to reset. My work has always been community based and I bring in as much creativity as possible. I love working with kids because it means I get to be playful and that’s very important to me.
I am autistic and pretty loud about it because it made my life make so much more sense when I was diagnosed as a teenager. When I get excited about something it becomes my full focus and can be pretty all consuming. I can get overwhelmed by lots of loud noise, but it’s pretty specific types of noise. I like wearing headphones in my downtime to recalibrate my brain – sometimes listening to music, sometimes just for the quiet.
I have loved fantasy and science fiction since I was a kid, both reading and writing. I like being creative and while I don’t think I am particularly artistic, I thoroughly enjoy making art.
I love being outdoors – even in the UK, where it’s mostly cold and wet. I like swimming and hiking. I have a little rescue dog back home, who is having a holiday with my mum and I like that taking him for walks every day means I have to go out even if I really am not feeling it.
I am really keen to immerse myself in Australian culture and learn more of the Aboriginal history and culture. I am also very enthusiastic about wildlife and learning more about conservation.Centres d’intérêt

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I have spent a lot of time working with children and young people - both as a mental health nurse and as a volunteer at creative youth groups. I really enjoy spending time with kids of all ages and helping them to engage in the things that are important to them.
I am autistic myself and it's something I'm pretty knowledgable about. I've spent time educating kids, parents and professionals about autism and how to support autistic people.
In my free time, I enjoy crewing with a small stage at music festivals - I'm a general dogsbody and will help with everything from set dressing to cooking and washing up.
I am very keen to learn and develop my practical skills. I am relatively good at figuring things out and I have some experience with gardening and very basic DIY. I am pretty good at following instructions though!
I grew up with hippy parents so I have spent a fair amount of time living offgrid in the UK and I am familiar with communal living, composting and building fires.Âge

We had a great chat about our personality types before she arrived and I explained how I like to have workaways help.
She was so easy to get along with and very intuitive. Most days she would set her own hours with a range of projects or tasks around the house or garden and just get jobs done. She was… read more
Angie was my first WorkAway host in Australia and I don't know quite what I was expecting but I definitely didn't imagine I'd leave with a lovely new group of friends in The Blue Mountains. Angie's friends are a fun and… read more
