We are based in Barcelona and work remotely for sustainability projects. We are interested in travel, reading and nature. We'd love to know more about rural life, farming and gardening.

Hello,

We are a French and English couple in our mid-40s, and we have spent most of our lives in cities and towns (currently Barcelona), but for some time now we have felt a strong pull towards a more rural lifestyle, connected to the land, self-sufficiency, community, and environmental care. One of our life plans is to eventually purchase a rural property to develop a project around permaculture, agroforestry, animal care, and possibly hosting retreats, courses, or small community living experiences. Before taking that step, we would like to test this lifestyle in a concrete way, learn from people who are already living it, and see if it truly suits us.

We both work for organisations focused on climate justice and environmental protection. We are vegetarians, try to eat organic whenever possible, buy very little beyond food, and prioritise second-hand and ethical purchases. We have lived in some fairly remote rural settings, particularly while working on an agriculture-based project in Uganda, which helped us adapt to different rhythms of life, physical work, and small-community living. We are social and enjoy sharing stories and experience with others, but not especially extroverted, and we are very happy with quiet environments, meaningful conversations, and hands-on work.

We would be truly grateful for the opportunity to share with hosts' daily life, learn from their experience, contribute our energy and skills, and start envisioning what our own future project could look like.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We have some experience in growing plants, basic maintenance, DIY and repairs, and we are very keen to learn more. We are particularly excited about deepening our knowledge of regenerative agriculture, permaculture, agroforestry, and soil care. We also love animals and would be delighted to help care for them, if there are any. We are practical, hardworking, reliable and quick learners. We are happy to contibute wherever there is the current need.

Aurelie loves board games - Catan, Carcassone, Uno and Belote. Richard is a keen hiker and runner, and does some yoga and meditation. We are both keen readers and enjoy travelling to see new places and learn about their history.
