Languages are a passion of mine. I've been a German (occasionally English) language tutor for a few years now. I also have experience of conducting group language lessons for a student organisation. I'm always excited to improve my language skills and am particularly keen on enhancing my Italian, French, and Spanish abilities. Immersing myself in a language-rich environment is, for me, one of the best ways to learn, and I'm eager to practice with native speakers

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I am fluent in German, English and Polish and have a basic knowledge of Italian, French and Spanish. This helps me to communicate with people from different cultures, exchange languages, assist with language teaching or translation.

My Double Bachelor's Degree in International Management has taught me business operations, cross-cultural communication and problem solving. My work experience in sales, logistics and finance has given me skills applicable to administrative tasks and customer service.

I can cook quite well, I take good care of the house and pets. I can also help with small repairs and in the garden. As the eldest of my siblings, I can also take care of children.

I'm adaptable, quick to learn, and always ready to take on new challenges!

I'm very happy to have been the first volunteer to stay with Kitti and his family. I spent 11 days in their house, which they want to turn into a homestay. There were no guests during my stay, after the first week another volunteer joined me. There are three rooms for volunteers to stay in, all with air conditioning and fans. There is now a large room with a table, chairs, fridge and water heater where volunteers can spend time and eat their meals. In general there is a lot of space, actually the whole first and second floor for the volunteers/potential guests, while the family lives on the ground floor. The food was delicious Thai cuisine, cooked for us by the family or bought from the market. We were provided with 3 or 2 meals a day and sometimes mango sticky rice for dessert, water, coffee, we could also use the kitchen. And as they have a smoothie stand, there is always plenty of fresh fruit to eat in the house. You can also do your laundry and borrow a motorbike.

The work is varied and quite flexible. There are no set hours, I worked between 3 and 6 hours a day with some breaks and took one day off when I needed to. I cut the grass in the garden, shovelled the soil, transplanted plants, moved furniture, fixed a water pipe, cleaned the fridge and the rooms. Me and the other volunteer also made compost, filled bags with soil and looked after plants. Working in the garden in the heat can be a challenge, but if you're an early bird (which I'm unfortunately not), the mornings are more pleasant. It's good to have long trousers and some repellent, though, as the mosquitoes can be a bit of a pain.
Kitti generally tells what he wants to be done, but it's good to show some initiative. The homestay needs a few improvements, for example I have brought in some furniture, cleaned and provided bins in the bathrooms, cut bamboo to hang the curtains, organised the room upstairs etc. Me and the other volunteer have been working in the garden and on the driveway, but there is a whole big yard next to the house that Kitti would like to turn into a farm and possibly a campsite. There is also a lot of bamboo waiting for someone skilled to build a bamboo house 😉 As Kitti and his wife sell delicious smoothies and sticky rice at the market in the evenings, we sometimes helped them set up and take down their stall or squeeze the orange juice/prepare the fruit for the smoothies.

In my free time, I would walk or ride the motorbike to see the sunsets at the temples that are all over Ayutthaya. So if you want to spend time surrounded by beautiful ancient ruins, Ayutthaya is the perfect place. Kitti's house is 30 minutes walk from the market with the smoothie stand and 20 minutes from the main temples. Make sure you know the exact location of the house (as the homestay is not yet on Google Maps) and Kitti's Whatsapp number in advance, as he may not be able to respond quickly through Workaway. Kitti speaks English very well, his wife communicatively and their 10-year-old son like a native speaker! It was so nice to meet them and learn about the life of a Thai family.

If you want to relax in a beautiful resort with good accommodation and dining conditions and/or gain some experience in hospitality or teaching, this place might be the right choice for you!

I spent two months and one week at the resort from October 2024 to January 2025, helping with guest relations. Guest relations work involves assisting at the… read more front desk, for example, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. during check-outs and check-ins, welcoming newly arrived groups. Volunteers are also sometimes present at breakfast, walking between tables, asking guests if everything is okay, solving their problems. Most importantly, it includes conducting daily welcome meetings at 5:00 p.m. for new guests. Normally, one of the volunteers also guides a morning tour that starts at 6:30 a.m. I really didn’t want to do this because I’m not a morning person, but fortunately, my request was taken into consideration and, eventually, Vietnamese staff took over this task.
If you work in guest relations, you don't have much contact with Steve. You might see him on the hotel grounds from time to time and we go to a club together when a new volunteer arrives. But if a problem arises and you contact Steve, he does his best to solve it and adress your needs.

As for the employees, even though some might seem a bit reserved at first, once you get to know them better, they turn out to be very kind and pleasant people. At this point, I’d like to send my regards to the whole staff from the front office, Quyen from guest relations, bell men, the HR and restaurant staff!
We went out twice with the reception crew - to a restaurant and karaoke. First time to celebrate the end of one volunteer's time, and the second to mark the end of mine. These were very enjoyable experiences that I will remember, and I highly recommend other volunteers to do something similar!
Regarding food, every volunteer can join breakfast at the end of the service, but there’s always plenty of food left, and the breakfast is indeed very good. There’s a wide variety of options, although it’s almost the same every day. The second meal is usually lunch at the canteen, which many volunteers don’t take advantage of. However, I was satisfied with the food at the canteen as well. It’s authentic Vietnamese food, always served with rice, including some meat or fish. In the evening, you can go to the restaurant and order something from the menu, up to a limit of about $10 (otherwise you pay the rest). Every Saturday, the hotel organizes a big barbecue, and newly arrived volunteers are invited to join it once at the beginning of their time here. Of course, this is a very nice gesture.

Regarding free time, guests often recognize volunteers without uniforms, but they usually just have a quick question or a friendly chat, which was never a problem for me. During their free time, volunteers can swim in the pool, the sea, relax on a hammock, or lie on a sunbed. Especially in the late afternoon, the beach and pool are usually empty, and you can really enjoy them. It's quite rare that a volunteer would have to give up something to a guest. There’s also a really nice gym, often empty, and a game room, so if you have someone to play tennis or ping-pong with, you can make good use of that. Similarly, there’s no problem with renting a bike.

The hotel organizes trips to the Ta Cu Mountain, the town of Phan Thiet, and Phan Rang. In general, volunteers are not allowed to participate, but I convinced the staff that I could translate for the German speaking guests and better answer the questions about the trips from other guests after I've seen them. I participated in three trips in my work uniform and tried to help the guide with guests. These were very enjoyable trips, and I'm glad I had the chance to take part in them.
