Hello! I'm Philippi, from Boulder, Colorado, US. I'm originally from New Orleans, Louisiana where I grew up with an appreciation for unique culture and cuisine. Having lived in Colorado for the past 27 years has given me a further appreciation of living a healthy and active lifestyle so that at 54yrs old, I'm fit, fun, endlessly curious, and always optimistic about what a day of good living will provide!

A bit about me...
I grew up in an open-minded, and hard-working family in New Orleans, Louisiana. While school was a priority, my parents also wanted to instill in my brother, sister, and me an appreciation for living in a naturally rich environment while having the outdoor skills and instincts to be able to explore our world with confidence and self-reliance.

As a kid, I spent a lot of time watching my granpére in his wood-working shop. He was a true craftsman which inspired my father in his home construction projects and continues to inspire my own endeavors at home-renovation and furniture restoration.

In recent years, I've been fortunate to be able to combine my "fix it" skills with my love of nature and, in particular, my experience with caring for horses. I volunteer with the Colorado Horse Rescue where we have 50 acres of land which is the home to about 60 horses. Daily chores include feeding, watering, mucking, walking, and training, as well as holding horses for veterinary checks, farrier care, and chiropractic sessions. And, of course... mending fences, gates, stalls, and just about anything else the horses manage to get themselves into.
Most of the horses we care for will eventually be adopted into new and loving homes, but others require long-term medical attention, or just a peaceful place to spend their remaining days. This is a beautiful part of Colorado with a large equestrian community that proudly embraces the principles and practices of Natural Horsemanship.

As a certified Water Professional I've spent over twenty years working in the field of Water Resources. My work projects typically involve watershed management, hydroelectric operations, water treatment/filtration, and distribution. I'm also experienced in operating large equipment such as backhoes, front-loaders, and the occasional farm tractor :)

I like to approach each day with an enthusiasm for working on interesting projects, creative problem-solving, and learning something new while developing skills and experience in the things that interest me. I work well in a team, but I'm just as happy to figure things out on my own.

I consider myself very open-minded and willing to share ideas, stories, and life-experiences with anyone.

I'm an avid white-water kayaker, with an interest in all water sports. Certified in SCUBA as well as Freediving. I love to surf, but most of the time I'm just getting pounded by waves; which, I think is just as fun.

I play guitar, but I can never seem to remember any songs.

I like to eat healthy, exercise, and be outside for most of the day. I don't watch TV, nor do I follow politics. I read, listen to audiobooks, and spend most of my downtime learning about other cultures and planning the next adventure.
