Hello everyone! My name is Patricia and I live in Barcelona. I have worked as an English teacher in state high schools for more than 35 years and taken part in and managed many cooperative projects: eTwinning and Erasmus projects as well as students exchanges and English language international camps . I am an easy-going, friendly and cheerful person who enjoys travelling, meeting people, and getting to know new cultures, ...
I also love learning languages, I am bilingual in Catalan and Spanish, fluent in English and can communicate in French. Wherever I travel to I try to learn some basics of the language spoken in the place even if it's only to be able to be polite.
After a long and fulfilling teaching career I have decided I want to travel without time pressure, being able to stay longer and try to be part of the community so as to get to know their culture and traditions better.

I am always interested in learning new languages, whenever I visit a new place or country I try to learn at least the very basics so I can be polite and greet and thank people when interacting with them. Thanks to Workaway I hope to be able to stay longer in the places I visit and so have the chance to learn a little more of their language.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As a working mother of two I have had to learn many different skills and juggle different tasks trying to find the right balance at every given moment. Combined with my position teaching English I have also held other positions within the school such as Head of Studies, Head of the Foreign Languages Department or Coordinator for International Projects, so I am used to appplying for and managing projects, managing European funds, organizing trips, hosting international meetings, writing reports, disseminating results, etc.
At a more personal level I am a very outgoing person, fond of outdoors activities and concerned with mental and physical health. I have always had an interest in helping people and have done different volunteering services, right now I am part of the volunteer staff at a hospital in my home town and I also help at the local Red Cross delegation.

I am a very flexible person that adjusts easily to new situations, I had to leave my small home town to go to university and have had the chance to live in other countries for short periods of time which has helped me become more openminded. Participating in and managing international projects has also made me more patient, tolerant and understanding.
