Hi there,

My name is Padraic (pronounced Pauric) I am 30 years old from Ireland. I arrived in New Zealand about a month ago so I am just finding my feet here but enjoying it so far. I moved here for the outdoor life style and for new experiences. I am at my happiest when I am in outdoors on a hike surrounded by mother nature. Although I do like to spend time with good people who have good vibes. I would say I am a very emphatic person and I get great gratification out of helping others. Before I left for NZ I was working as a social care worker with kids and teenagers in the outdoors.

I would like to volunteer to experience what it would be like working for and living with a New Zealand family. I miss my family at home at times and it would nice to have that homily feel for a while. In addition I would like to save some money on my travels where I can and learn some new skills along the way.

So far I have been based in Wellington and have not seen much of the country. I would like to travel to the south Island at the beginning of February but I want to visit some of the North Island before this. Ideally I would like to volunteer somewhere around Hawkes Bay, Napier or Hastings area but I am open to be flexible on this. I would like to do some day trips on my days off so I figure if I am in any of these areas I can drive to places of interest nearby - ish!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Growing up I always worked with my father who was a handy man. Sense the age of 13 or 14 I would have joined him working on the weekends doing things like gardening and painting. When I was 17 I got a part time job as a waitress. I continued this work during my university years and since completing University In 2014 where I studied to be a secondary school teacher.
I have worked in a number of different jobs. Initially I worked in Admin based jobs, answering phone calls, sending emails etc. In September 2020 I started working as a Geography and Resource teacher initially full time then going down to part time for my second year when I began working as a social care worker when I wasn't in school. I did this job full time before leaving in November 2022.

In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors and go on regular walks and hikes. As well as this I enjoy kayaking and some running. Overall I would say I am an active type of person and so I wouldn't shy away from most kinds of work.

Some of the keys skills I have gained form my previous experience are but not limited to the following:
