Hello!

We are a pair of friends from the United Kingdom who have been living and travelling together in Canada the past year and are looking to experience new diverse cultures, gain a more in depth understanding of the world and foster human connections with unique individuals. This, as well as the chance to make contributions to worthwhile causes through our labour are the main attractions of workaway. Getting to delve into a small community and be a part of it, bonding through work as well as play is a huge motivation for us to pursue time at a workaway. We both consider ourselves to be hard workers with a diverse set of skills but mostly an ability to listen, learn and experience new things I believe would make us an asset to any host willing to have us. We welcome the chance to try new roles, improve upon our Spanish & be enriched by the beautiful people we are bound to meet.

We both have a huge interest in furthering our Spanish language, this was a huge contributing factor to our desire to do a work away. Having done some travelling through South America before we have a basic understanding of Spanish but want to really compound on this immersing ourselves in a Spanish speaking place, we welcome the challenge of being fully submerged in a majority Spanish speaking environment and are excited by it.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

James:

I have been a practising Arborist for the past 4 years, accustomed to long periods of intense physical labour and working out in the elements. I am used to and capable of working with my hands and doing lots of work for a landscaping company in England. As a result of this I had a good understanding of horticulture and love working with nature, as such I believe I can make a good contribution towards ecological projects. in addition to this, I have a lot of experience in the service industry, working with people from all walks of life and I derive a lot of joy from interacting with other people and getting to know them, these social and communication skills have always allowed me to work well in groups whatever the task at hand be.

Oscar:
I have an undergraduate degree in Physical Geography and a Master's in Geospatial Science from the University of Glasgow. I have previously worked as a Land Surveyor in Scotland. During my current adventure in Canada, I have worked as a bartender at a Heli-ski Lodge and as a server in fine-dining restaurants. Additionally, I have experience labouring in the construction industry and gardening - I revel in physical labour and pushing my body. I enjoy working with my hands and enjoying the company of others while doing so. I am a team player and love working towards a common goal. I find peace in nature and learning about this beautiful world. I aim to live each day in such a way as to craft a nourishing life. I am incredibly excited about the adventure ahead in South America!

Autres infos...

We are both very outdoorsy individuals with passions for hiking, yoga, running, martial arts, diving (basically anything that includes being outside). Creating fun away from devices and finding new games is always preferred, notable board games at the moment include Catan and Mancala but we are always on the look out for new forms of fun. Being submerged in nature is how we prefer to spend our time and as such we are very excited for this South American adventure!
