Description
Hey, we are Nicola (20) and Edoardo (21) from Italy! We are friends that met while studying economics at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. Milan, a city famous for its rich history, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine, has been the backdrop for our journey and our safe place so far, but we are both eager to embark in new adventures.
Growing up and living in Italy has given us a solid grounding in Western lifestyle and culture. However, our shared passions go far beyond the boundaries of Europe. We both have a deep love for traveling, exploring new places, and immersing ourselves in different cultures. We share the passion for exploring: whether it's hiking with a tent, observing wildlife in their natural habitats, or immersing ourselves in different cultures, we are always seeking new adventures. Next year Nicola will be spending six months in Singapore and Edoardo in Beijing on exchange programs. Living in a different environment and embracing a new culture is something we eagerly look forward to, as it will allow us to broaden our horizons, meet new people, and dive into completely different ways of life.
Additionally, what has pushed us to volunteering is our shared dedication to social responsibility and sustainability. Together, we strive to contribute to causes that matter and make a positive difference wherever we go. In Milan, we have volunteered at RAB, a local bar where we organize events to raise awareness about Down syndrome. Through this experience, we have brought creative and artistic projects to life, involving and giving back to the whole community. Everyone should contribute to the best of his possibilities.
As we look forward to new experiences with Workaway, we are excited about the opportunity to learn from people with diverse backgrounds, customs, and habits. For us, happiness is a mix of various ingredients – stories, experiences, and shared moments. It's about connecting with others, understanding their journeys, and making long-lasting memories together. We believe that through these connections, we can all find a bit of happiness and expand our cultural horizon. While happiness cannot always be seen, understood, or even felt, through the power of “being human”, we can enrich our lives and gain new perspectives. By contributing to the development of local communities, we can create moments that transform how we see the world around us.

Italian is our mother tongue, and we are willing to teach both the language and the rich culture that comes with it. We have completed our study program entirely in English, which enables us to teach English as well. We have international certifications provided by Cambridge and British Council to prove our competences. Additionally, we are enthusiastic about learning local languages to better understand and engage with the local culture.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
We are Nicola and Edoardo, undergraduates at Bocconi University, enrolled in the ‘International Economics and Management’ program. Our coursework has spanned subjects like Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Management, Accounting, and Statistics, equipping us with a strong theoretical foundation that we are eager to share with others. Studying in English in an international environment has allowed us to connect with people from around the globe and made English our daily language, certified at the IELTS C1 level. Additionally, we speak French at a B1 level. We are confident in our ability to teach these subjects to any age group, relying on our strong academic foundations.
Our dedication to social responsibility and sustainable innovation has driven us to actively participate in student associations and gain practical work experience. Nicola’s role in the Social Impact Analysis division at Cuora Consulting and as Head of Fundraising for the Bocconi Sailing Team, combined with Edoardo’s consultancy work with the “Build Sustainable Innovation” association and his internship at RoyRebel, a sustainable startup producing bags from recycled rubber, have provided us with deep insights into the economic and social challenges faced by firms in developing countries. These experiences have also given us valuable hands-on experience and a profound understanding of the importance of sustainable development.
We recently concluded a rewarding volunteer experience at ‘RAB Questo non è un Bar’ in Milan, a local bar that employs people with Down Syndrome, part of a larger social project called ‘L’Impronta’. Our efforts, recognized with the ‘Bocconi Social Impact Recognition’ award, led to the creation and organization from scratch of a Paint & Sip event, allowing customers to express their creativity on a canva while enjoying an aperitif together, highlighting the power of teamwork and community engagement.
For the past three years, we have also been involved with Operazione Mato Grosso, a volunteer organization that supports communities in Latin America by focusing on education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. Our participation included organizing fundraising events, managing logistics, and directly supporting on-the-ground initiatives first-hand. This experience taught us the importance of resourcefulness and cultural sensitivity. We witnessed the challenges faced by underprivileged communities and the significant impact that coordinated support can have. It was a transformative experience that reinforced our commitment to sustainable development and international solidarity, while also allowing us to form meaningful connections with wonderful and like-minded people.
This being said, we are confident that our combination of academic expertise and commitment to social responsibility, demonstrated through practical projects, can significantly contribute to your community's growth. We share a deep passion for music and a keen interest in exploring diverse musical cultures. Edoardo has been playing the guitar for five years, delving into music theory and experimenting with basic piano while producing his own music. Moreover, we are avid readers and podcast enthusiasts, enjoying content that spans self-improvement, news, business, and classic literature.
Sports have been a significant part of our lives as well. Edoardo played football for ten years and dedicated a year to coaching children, while Nicola enjoys a wide range of hobbies, from the sea to the mountains. He has been sailing for over 10 years and, while in his hometown, trained extensively to participate in national regattas across Italy. He also enjoys surfing and kite surfing with friends. In addition, he holds a scuba diving license and has completed several dives in the Mediterranean Sea. Nicola is also a passionate horse rider and used to train for show jumping while in his hometown. Nowadays, he enjoys going on long hikes with his loyal friend, Dago.
In Milan, we both love playing table tennis, which adds to our active and dynamic lifestyle.
We share a deep passion for immersing ourselves in wildlife and enjoy capturing its beauty through photography and videography. In the Alps, we sometimes venture into the woods equipped with GoPros, drones, and cameras to film animals in their natural habitats. Our adventures allow us to create footage of the wildlife we are able to encounter. Additionally, we both possess video editing skills, enabling us to produce videos from the media we capture. We always respect the species we encounter and never get in touch with them, so as to minimize our impact on their behaviors.
