Dear future host,

My name is Nicky, and I’m a 24-year-old student from the Netherlands. I am seeking a meaningful and interesting way to spend my summer. As an experienced traveler, I’ve come to realize that staying in one place for an extended period can be a fulfilling way to learn, grow, and create lasting memories. I feel most alive when surrounded by nature, and I typically spend my summers hiking through the mountains.

I believe I could be a valuable and helpful addition to your team. I’ve been described as independent, hands-on, and open-minded. I am sociable and enjoy assisting others. In my free time, I gravitate towards outdoor activities and sports. I am fluent in English, have intermediate proficiency in German, and am a native Dutch speaker. I grew up in the countryside and have lived in cities like Rotterdam and Nijmegen since moving out. I am currently studying food and business. My interests span across art, sports, languages, literature, and various cultural aspects. Additionally, I have a strong affinity for dogs, having grown up alongside two of them.

My goal is to further my self-development and create meaningful experiences. I have a deep passion for nature, and while working, I would relish the opportunity to spend as much time outdoors as possible. I am eager to develop my skills in building, DIY projects, and gardening, aspiring to become a self-sufficient and skilled individual. There are many areas I am keen to explore, including climbing, yoga, self-sufficiency, agriculture, and languages. I am also genuinely interested in the diverse ways people shape their lives and find meaning in them.

In return, I offer hard work, an open mindset, and enjoyable company. As a student, I have worked various side jobs in retail, hospitality, cleaning, and childcare. Additionally, I spent a few months abroad working as an au pair, which helped me enhance my social and practical skills. Furthermore, I maintain my fitness and physical strength through regular exercise and competitive rowing. Thanks to my active involvement in the Couchsurfing community, I have gained extensive experience as both a guest and a host.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Most people would call me sporty. Ideally, I train about a eight times a week. My biggest passion is rowing. I combine that with cycling, running and (in holidays) hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. Furthermore I am openminded, curious and positive. I am broadly interested in many topics and very willing to talk and listen. I am experienced with working, and I am not afraid to do physical work. I am a decent cook, I can clean and work with dogs.
