Ho soggiornato con Giovanni e Brigitte in agriturismo per una settimana all'inizio di dicembre 2020 ed è stata un'esperienza davvero meravigliosa.
Anche se era poco più di una settimana, mi è sembrato molto più a lungo dato che siamo stati così cordiali e accoglienti nei miei confronti e mi hanno fatto sentire subito a casa e mi sono divertito
… read more così tanto a lavorare in giornate prevalentemente soleggiate con animali circondati dalla natura.
Fu durante le covid restrizioni che molte persone si fermarono fuori dal lavoro e accettarono gentilmente la mia richiesta, e mi aiutarono persino a organizzare un autobus diretto lì e mi vennero a prendere dalla loro città più vicina, Orosei.
L'agriturismo si trova in una bellissima campagna e siccome vengo da una città per me è stato un vero piacere essere lì e lavorare nella natura con gli animali. Ci sono mucche, vitelli, cavalli, asini, capre, maiali e oche e una tartaruga!
La loro cucina e la zona soggiorno con un bel fuoco scoppiettante sono così accoglienti e un bel posto dove rilassarsi, chiacchierare e rilassarsi con loro.
Il lavoro è stato così divertente aiutando a nutrire gli animali due volte al giorno portando secchi di grano e rabboccando gli abbeveratoi. Camminare dietro il trattore distribuendo il fieno alle mucche che seguono. A volte potavamo alberi e riempivamo un sacco con le foglie e le bacche che ne ricavavamo e lo davamo da mangiare alle capre o scaricavamo balle di fieno da un camion delle consegne o riordinavamo il fienile spostando balle e spostando roba in giro.
Uno dei miei compiti preferiti era aiutare a raccogliere gli alberi caduti su tutto il terreno in piccoli mucchi da trascinare dal trattore per essere tagliati e poi immagazzinare i mucchi di legna da ardere con esso.
Il cibo era abbondante e abbondante e mi hanno sempre offerto un sacco. È stato bello bere una birra con loro dopo aver lavorato. La sistemazione può essere una piccola roulotte carina o una stanza della casa con una piccola stufa e un sacco di coperte. L'hanno reso super accogliente.
Devo anche dire che sono stati estremamente gentili e pazienti dato che parlavo solo poche parole di italiano e la maggior parte della comunicazione avveniva tramite la mia app google translate. Immagino che questo possa essere molto frustrante per gli host, ma sono stati molto pazienti e l'ho apprezzato molto.
Mi sarebbe piaciuto rimanere più a lungo ed ero triste di andarmene, ma dovevo tornare nel Regno Unito prima di Natale e dato che covid stava peggiorando, volevo stare vicino alla mia famiglia.
La campagna è bellissima e ci sono spiagge davvero meravigliose nelle vicinanze che puoi raggiungere a piedi. (Quando ero lì non faceva caldo, quindi un pomeriggio mi hanno portato lì e abbiamo fatto una bella passeggiata fino a un punto panoramico locale).
L'alba mentre si dava da mangiare agli animali era incredibile!

I stayed with Giovanni and Brigitte on the farm for a week at the beginning of December 2020 and it was a truly wonderful experience. Even though it was just over a week it felt like a lot longer as they we so warm and welcoming towards me and made me instantly feel at home and I had such a lovely time there working on mostly sunny days with animals surrounded by nature.
It was during the covid restrictions when many people had stopped workaway and they kindly accepted my request, and even helped me arrange a direct bus there and picked me up from their nearest town Orosei.
The farm is located in beautiful countryside and as I am from a city for me it was such a pleasure to be there and work in nature with animals. There are cows, calves, horses, donkeys, goats, pigs and geese.
Their kitchen and living room area with a lovely roaring fire is so cosy and a lovely place to hang out and chat and chill with them.
The work was so enjoyable helping feeding the animals twice a day carrying buckets of grain and topping up water troughs. Walking behind the tractor distributing hay from it to the cows that follow behind. Sometimes we pruned trees and filled a sack with the leaves and berries from it and fed it to the goats or unloaded hay bales from a delivery truck or tidied the hay barn shifting bales and moving stuff around.
One of my favourite tasks was helping to gather fallen trees all over the land into small piles to be dragged by the tractor to get cut up and then stocking up the firewood piles with it.
Food was hearty and plentiful and they always offered me loads. It was nice having a beer with them after working. The accommodation is either a cute, little caravan or a room in the house with a little heater and loads of blankets. They made it super cosy.
I have to also say that they were extremely kind and patient given that I only spoke a few words of Italian and most of the communication was done via my google translate app. I could imagine this could be very frustrating for hosts but they were so patient and I really appreciated that.
I would have loved to have stayed longer and I was sad to leave but I had to get back to the UK before Christmas and as covid was getting worse I wanted to be near my family.
The countryside is beautiful and there are truly stunning beaches nearby that you can walk to.
(When I was there it wasn’t hot so they drove me there one afternoon and we had a lovely walk to a local viewpoint).
The sunrise while feeding the animals was incredible!
