Hi! I'm Mirko, an Italian boy who lives near Como Lake, in northern Italy.
I’m an outgoing, curious and responsible guy who loves nature and animals, travelling and living new experiences. I take every task seriously and I always work with passion and respect.
My life has a big split: pre and post January 2024.
That date marks an important event in my life: I have quit my secure job in Italy to start travelling around Europe.
I spent the months between January and July 2024 in the countryside of the Netherlands, where I got my first (and only) Workaway experience in an amazing family. My tasks were: helping with DIY projects, taking care of the animals of the farm and housekeeping.
After this experience I spent some months home and later I flew to the cold Finnish Lapland, to Rovaniemi (Santa Claus’ home)! There I worked as a tour guide for all the winter season (November- March), I made fabulous friends and I learned a lot about this cold region and its inhabitants and nature.
Instead, before 2024 I spent more than 7 years working in a metalworking factory.
If I am what I am, I owe a lot to both of my “two lives”: working in a factory taught me how to work hard, solve problems using my head and use different tools; travelling around let me improve my English, grow up both personally and professionally and it made me understand that every place in the world, every culture has something special to offer. That’s why I want to keep doing it!
This summer I am working in Italy, meanwhile I am also studying Spanish. That’s why I would like to get a Workaway in Spain for the month of September. Furthermore I will get the chance to visit a country unexplored by me and make new friends and memories that I will keep forever with me!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I graduated as a surveyor in 2016.
I then started working as a metalworker in a turning company until the end of 2023, where I was a CNC programmer and I also did mechanical maintenance when necessary, so I know how to use tools and I am able to do physical work of long duration.
In my past Workaway experience I stayed in a farm, working at renovation projects and with animals.
I spent last winter in Lapland, where I worked as a tour guide. There I learned a lot about customer service and how to deal with people and stressful situations.
Now I am working as a waiter in a bar located on Lake Como.
Also, I am a tidy, precise and well-organised guy, who puts effort into every task and tries to learn something from everything.
I have a driving licence and a forklift licence.
My family has 5 dogs that I help feed and clean.
When I was a teenager I was an animator at the oratory of my municipality.

Autres infos...

I love traveling, experiencing new things and discovering new cultures (including culinary ones), I have great respect for the environment and I always try to help it in my own small way even trying to correct some of the eco-unfriendly habits of the Western culture in my country.
I play football and I like to walk in mountains alone, with friends or with my dogs.
During the winter I practice downhill skiing.
I prefer the tranquillity of the mountains and villages to the chaos of the city.
