  • Description

    Hello everyone!

My name is Meiyan and I’m currently a college student based in Maryland, United States. I'm currently planning for travels to Japan! I was born in Beijing and then moved to Kansas, US when I was seven. I went with my parents to support my mom study family therapy. After staying Kansas for 6 years I moved back to Shanghai with my family! Right now I'm living by myself in Baltimore.

Growing up I've always been interested in backpacking, couch surfing, living in different locations locally and of course also workaway. I feel so lucky to be born as a human at this time on this planet it would be sad if I didn't meet and see more of this world. I hope to have the opportunity to meet you, have meaningful conversations and to work and grow toegther.

Right now I’m completing a fine arts degree at MICA. I’m majoring in Ceramics! A passion I developed after living in Jingdezhen( famous ceramic/pottery location) for two months when I was 16. That trip was my first time living completely independently. The experience also led me to realize how much I enjoy learning various skills as well as meeting interesting people from all over the world! I remember so vividly struggling at first to get used to the tiny room I rented for 35 dollars a month to save money, but then at the same time feeling like an adult. I feel like I'm good at adapting to new environments as I got used to my new home pretty quickly.

I also draw/make illustrations, and work in metal smithing (mainly silver jewelry!). I'm interested in many crafts and I really enjoy nature. I hope to learn natural dyeing, carpentry, glass art, gardening, horse riding, crochet, surfing, making mineral paint, paper making.... Ahh so much I would like to try. Lastly I also really love a good deep conversation.

My goal in life is to just be happy. What is a happy life is a question I'm still pondering. Hopefully I can support myself through doing something I enjoy and have a few months each year to rest and travel. Right now I'm thinking of becoming a teacher in the field of art.

On many descriptions I find hosts set an age requirement. I totally understand this but I want let you know even though I'm quite young I am mature enough to respond to different life situations and take care of myself physically and mentally. I keep clean, sleep early wake up early, not afraid to get dirty and I would be more than happy to offer any help I can! I hope myself and everyone who sees this is happy and healthy everyday!

With this little description I feel it's difficult to get to know someone. If you're interested in hosting me, I'll be very happy to answer any questions or arrange online meetings! :)

  • Autres infos...

I do not have much experience in farm work, but I'm very interested in learning! I've always envisioned in the future having my own little garden and chicken coop. I also really miss being outdoors and in nature as I live in a big city. I look forward to having different experiences and hopefully make some lifelong connections!
