Heya!

My name is Meaghan, I am a 23-year-old from Melbourne, Australia.

I'm an enthusiastic, open-minded individual; I love a chat, a cup of tea, game of cards, and days spent, making, doing and learning.

I've grown up in a country town and I have a strong appreciation for our beautiful natural world and the value of our human communities' interaction with nature; having spent the majority of my childhood hiking, playing and building tree houses in the hills around my family's property - (I have a lot of experience working with kids, and I really enjoy continuing to channel this energy :) ).

I'm voraciously curious and I love reading, thinking and sharing time with people; exchanging skills, knowledge and experience.

I am close to finishing my study of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design - I love making things and working with people to get things done. Nothing beats a good day's work, on a worthwhile project!

I have just spent 6 months as a university exchange student, studying Industrial Design in Eindhoven, Netherlands. And at the moment I'm in the process of launching a social design project making and selling all-purpose line overalls made from recycled textiles (very up for conversation/ discussion about ethical labour, global supply chains and regenerative manufacturing) - if you're interested in trying a pair let me know! I will be travelling through Europe until December this year, and I am looking forward to spending time getting to know people, helping with their projects, learning and sharing new skills and enjoying the wonder of being alive in such a beautiful part of the world : )

Having achieved well during of high school I have since worked as a tutor and mentor in maths, English, and science. I have largely worked with senior students to improve their fluency of writing, however, having younger siblings and family friends I've also helped a number of younger kids learn to read and comprehend English. A skill that I think I could easily extend to teaching English as a foreign language.
My father is a carpenter, and this year I have worked as his apprentice - constructing house frames and garden bridges, digging and re-stumping, plastering, painting and insulating. Drawing on a childhood of similar work, I took to these skills rapidly and am always keen to pick up new skills and enjoy the satisfaction of good physical work.
Having studied and used high-level English as a student leader in high school my written and verbal English communication is very sound. Combined with the experience of helping to manage my father's small business, I would be a good fit for any administrative tasks that need to be done.
