Hello everyone,
My name is Mayté, I’m 27 years old, and I live in eastern Germany with my fiancé. I’m currently in my final year of studying to become a primary school teacher, with English as my main subject. As part of my studies, I’m required to spend six weeks abroad — ideally from early September to mid-October 2025 — which is why I created this Workaway account and am now looking for a welcoming host family!
About Me – My Background and Interests:
I grew up in the countryside in a large and lively family with four brothers and a big backyard full of animals – dogs, cats, ducks, and sheep – so I’m very used to, and truly enjoy, a busy and active household. One day, I hope to create such a warm and lively home for myself as well.
Alongside my studies, I work part-time as a salesperson at TK Maxx and also as a waitress at a popular local restaurant. I enjoy staying active, meeting new people, and I’m comfortable working in a team and adapting to new environments.
I love spending time with my family and friends – we often go hiking, camping, or just visit local attractions together. I'm also very close with my six-year-old niece, who is starting school this summer. I visit her at least twice a week, and we spend time doing crafts, dancing, making music, going to museums, or simply watching a movie. She’s a real handful – in the best way!
When I need some quiet time, I enjoy reading thrillers, doing puzzles, or going on long walks while listening to a podcast. It’s my way of recharging and enjoying some peaceful time to myself.
My Motivation for Doing Workaway in Ireland:
As mentioned, I need to spend six weeks in an English-speaking country for my degree. But this is more than just a requirement – I’m genuinely excited about the opportunity.
I’m particularly drawn to Ireland, as I previously spent four weeks at the Galway Cultural Institute for a language course at the beginning of my studies. That short time gave me a beautiful first impression of Irish culture and everyday life.
Since we lived with a host family, travelled as much as we could, and had the most welcoming and warm-hearted staff at the institute — who not only taught us English, but also shared a lot about Irish history and culture — I was able to experience a lot in just a few weeks. We even learned some traditional dances, which was really fun and unforgettable!
I also really enjoyed the mix of nature, music, and community that seemed to be present in daily life. Those few weeks went by far too quickly, and I left with a strong desire to return — not just as a visitor, but to really connect with the culture, support a local family, and experience everyday life in a more meaningful way.
The Kind of Host Family and Daily Life I’m Looking For:
I would love to stay with a friendly family where I can help with childcare and support the family’s daily routine. Before starting university, I volunteered for a full year at a primary school that focused on children learning German as a second language. Since then, I’ve completed several internships at kindergartens and various schools, so I’m very comfortable and experienced when it comes to working with children.
I’m more than happy to support a family in any way I can – whether that’s childcare, general housework, light cooking, running errands, gardening, or taking care of pets. Ideally, this would be an opportunity not only to help out, but also to spend quality time with the family, perhaps even join them on outings or trips. That said, I completely respect personal boundaries and understand if hosts value quiet time – I’m also independent and would enjoy the chance to explore the area on my own as well.
What Matters to Me:
Good communication, honesty, and respectful interaction are very important to me – both in everyday life and especially when living closely with others. Through my part-time jobs and the many internships I’ve completed during my studies, I’ve learned how valuable it is to treat one another with kindness, patience, and openness.
I’m someone who always tries her best, puts care into everything I do, and aims to be thoughtful and warm-hearted in how I treat others. In return, I really hope to stay with people who share those same values and create a positive and supportive environment together.
I also know that small conflicts or misunderstandings can happen when people live and work closely together – that’s only natural. But I believe that with open communication, respect, and a willingness to listen, those things can always be worked through together.Centres d’intérêt

I'm currently studying to become a primary school teacher with English as my main subject, so improving my spoken English is one of my main goals during my stay. I’m also a native German speaker and would be happy to help others learn or practice German. I enjoy language exchange and believe that sharing language and culture is a great way to connect with others.Compétences et connaissances que j'aimerais partager ou apprendre

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I have experience in childcare through a full-time volunteer year at a primary school and multiple internships in kindergartens and different schools. I’m used to supporting children with homework, playing, creating crafts, and helping in daily routines. I also have basic skills in gardening, housework, and light cooking, and I’m confident looking after animals like chickens, ducks, and sheep. Through my part-time jobs in retail and hospitality, I’ve learned to work well under pressure, stay organized, and communicate clearly in a team. I’m reliable, caring, and always eager to help wherever I can – and I’m also happy to try new types of work and learn along the way.

I genuinely love playing games – my niece and I can spend hours playing Uno, and we never get tired of it! I also enjoy baking from time to time, especially Zupfkuchen – it’s my absolute favorite, and I never get tired of making it.
Another thing I really like is building with LEGO – if the children in my host family enjoy that too, I’d be honestly thrilled to join in!
Lately, I’ve also felt a strong pull towards Christianity. I’ve started going to church with some Christian friends from university and recently began reading the Bible, which has been a new and meaningful experience for me. If your family shares these values or would like to talk about faith and spirituality, I’d be very open and happy to share in that as well.
I’m always open to deeper conversations or just silly card games around the kitchen table – whatever brings people closer together.Informations complémentaires
