Hi! I am Mattia, a twenty-one years old Italian person. I use he/him pronouns, and I was born in a small town in Tuscany, around the center of Italy. I have studied philosophy in university and I have now taken a few years off to travel and learn new things. I am a very sociable person, I love spending time in good company and meeting new people. I am very involved in a few political causes, especially regarding the climate crisis and the environment: I take part of various organisations that operate through non violent direct action against fossil fuels. I am very interested to learn about permaculture, eco-constructions, and other sustainable techniques to build self-sufficient communities: it is my dream is to one day create a community with my friends. Due to the nature of my political activities I have spent almost a year and a half as a nomad, travelling by train and bike through various places, spaces and communities in Italy, so even if I'm knew to the Workaway platform I kind of know my way around this way of travelling and I am a very adaptable person.
I also love spending time in nature, reading, drawing and listening to music - unfortunately I don't play any instrument but I'm a very good listener for musicians :)

I am bilingual, I have a C1 certificate in English and my native language is Italian. My mother is British and in the past I have given private English lessons to kids ( 6 to 12 years old). I am interested in learning French or German.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have worked as a waiter in restaurants many times in the past, I know how to take orders and properly serve at tables, I have good social skills in the workplace.
In my experience as an activist I also gained some experience in organising, hosting and advertising public events (such as presentations of campaigns, books or fund-raising events) and I know how to organise the logistics of political activities such as protests, non violent direct actions and marches. I have some basic facilitation skills, and I know how to coordinate groups of people for specific tasks (such as writing a campaign project, designing an assemblee, or organising a the logistics of 5-days workshop for 20+ people)

I was assigned the female gender at birth but I am a trans man, I use he/him pronouns and prefer to be referred as Mattia. I am comfortable in sharing rooms with all genders.
I love taking long walks in nature and I have recently started to learn how to recognise and collect wild plants and herbs to use in the kitchen, for curative and wellness purposes.
Everyone says that even if I am quite young I have an impressive collection of crazy stories that have happened to me, you'll have to meet me if you want to judge how crazy they are ;)
