Hello everyone!
My name is Marie, I’m 22 years old, and the two things that define me most are my love for traveling the world and my passion for working with children. Both bring me joy no matter where I am.
For me, Workaway is the perfect way to explore new places while keeping costs low, meeting new people, and contributing in meaningful ways. I’m not the kind of person who enjoys lying around on vacation—I’d much rather spend my time being active, helping out, and learning from others. That’s why I see Workaway as an ideal opportunity for young adults like me to experience new cultures, make friends, and share laughter along the way. 😊
I’m currently studying to become a primary school teacher with the subjects Math, German, and English. So far, I’ve traveled to more than ten countries, completed three different Workaways in various fields, and even spent half a year in Alaska teaching German and English. Back home in Germany, I live with two roommates, which means I’m well used to a bit of chaos, teamwork, and lots of fun in daily life. I’m really excited about discovering new places, helping out wherever I can, and meeting wonderful people along the way!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As I mentioned earlier, I truly love working with kids—and I’ve been lucky to gain a lot of experience in this area. In 2021, I volunteered for ten months at a primary school, in 2022 I worked at another school, and in 2024 I had the amazing opportunity to teach German for half a year in Alaska. What I enjoy most is supporting children as they develop new knowledge and skills. Their immediate (and often very loving) reactions always bring me so much joy. Beyond the classroom, I also have plenty of experience supervising outdoor and leisure activities thanks to my ten years as a scout and my annual volunteer work at a summer camp.
Besides working with kids, I love learning new things myself. I’m very open-minded and curious—whether it’s practical work, creative projects, or exploring new ways of thinking. I don’t mind getting my hands dirty and really enjoy being outside. During my last two Workaways, I gained hands-on experience in farming, gardening, hospitality, and even cooking in a large kitchen.
I also love meeting new people. I’ve never been shy about starting conversations, even with strangers or people who speak another language. I’m fluent in German and English, speak a little Spanish, and can understand some Italian. I even know a few words of Polish—and if all else fails, I’m great at communicating with hands and feet. 😉 No matter where I am, I enjoy picking up new language skills along the way. 😊
