I Maria Pia am Italian, 26, and Michal is Slovak, 31 and have a cat, Kevin. We met in Denmark 5,5 years ago and we now live together in Copenhagen where we both work full time: I am a constructing architect and he is a software engineer. We want to move to the countryside one day and have a small farm with a vegetable garden and animals (horses, cats, dogs, maybe chickens). However, we do not have real experience with caring for a small farm, and that is why we are here looking for a place and people we can learn from. We would love to be able to learn while helping and as we are both mature, responsible and seriously wanting to learn, we will definitely provide committed help around.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

- Horse riding and general animal/farm care: Me, Maria, have been horse riding and competing in show jumping for 12 years. I had my own horse ( a fiery thoroughbred) and spent most of my childhood summers helping around in the riding school (taking care of the horses, helping with smaller kids classes, painting fences..). Michal learnt horse riding a couple of years ago, has been on plenty of walks in forest, beach, mountain, even did some jumps.. he is beginner/intermediate. He’s comfortable around horses and not scared of the more “difficult” ones.
Generally, getting some hands-on experience on a farm, helping around in nature and with animals is our main wish and goal of being Workawayers :)
- Small building / DIY projects: I am a constructing architect, meaning I work with technical drawings. I most probably will know exactly how to build something, but ... unfortunately, I did not have the chances to build hands-on yet, which I would really love to try.
- Tech help: Miso works as a software engineer. Do you need help with anything tech-related, like setting up your laptop, or cleaning it both from virus or dust, need advices about technology or so.. ? he will be able to help you!
- Cooking: We both enjoy cooking. We have few recipes we mastered by now and will enjoy cooking and sharing them!
- Cleaning: We are used to share living spaces with flatmates, so we are used to keep spaces clean and share household chores. Maria also had a cleaning job as a student, so she has a few tricks for cleaning well and quickly.
- Creative / handy projects: Maria is the more creative one in the couple: I like to paint, model dry clay, do paper flowers.. anything that involves creativity will make me happy! Miso is the more analytical/practical one: very good in math, logic, problem solving.. but also fixing bikes, motorbike, furniture, anything with the mentality that he can probably follow a youtube video if he does not know how to do it.

We have a male indoor/outdoor cat, Kevin. He travels with us because he needs help emptying his bladder twice a day after an accident that damaged his spine. Fortunately he is also adventurous and enjoys travelling. He can be quite bossy with cats that will challenge and try to attack him. If unbothered, he usually does not initiate fights - but cats are cats, so we do not promise anything. He also does not care for other animals, but he did not experience dogs off leash yet. He is a great mice catcher, he would be a perfect farm cat.
