Hi there,
my name is Mareike and I'm 42. At the moment, I work as a freelance lecturer and trainer which gives me the great opportunity to spend more than 6 weeks on the road. in 2022, I walked on the St. Olafs Path through Sweden and Norway on my own with a tent - 500km on foot was quite an experience. Last year, I chose the East Coast Trail in Newfoundland, Canada as my 'adventure', but it was a little too wet for me to walk the whole distance.

My first experience with WorkAway was 5 years ago when I travelled through Western Canada, staying with families, couples, an architect and a horse stables. I have the fondest memories of that time and will spend some time this year with a workaway host lady to reconnect and help out at her hobby farm in BC.

I love being outdoors, taking pictures and just appreciating beauty in all its forms.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I currently work as a lecturer at a private university in the Netherlands and have worked with young people in various other jobs before.

During Work and Travel year abroad, I
- cleaned, painted, cooked, drove someone around, worked in a little hostel on Hawaii,
- dug flowers beds, mowed, removed weeds and did other gardening things
- looked after horses and dogs on my own
- helped out at horse events as a runner, mucked stables, help build parcours...

and various other things. I am happy to give anything a go if you are happy to give me instructions and have a little patience with me. I'm quick to pick up on tasks.

  On my own, I eat little meat and a balanced healthy diet. I've noticed that staying away from large amounts of wheat works well for me, but I do not eat gluten free.
