Helloo everyone!
My name is Luka Dewkalie. I am 20 years old and currently in Rio de Janeiro for my exchange of my study. I am currently in my third year of my study Politics, Philosophy, and Economics in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I have already traveled in Southeast Asia during my gap year, and now I am super excited to explore the South American continent, after a brief period of traveling in Mexico and Guatemala. I am Dutch Surinamese, I speak fluent English and Dutch. My Spanish is also very sufficient, and I am currently studying Portuguese. During my exchange I aim to learn to speak both of these languages with fluency.
In my free time I like to exercise. I play football, basketball, and run a lot. Whereas, in Rio de Janeiro, I have started boxing and footvolley classes. Besides this I like to read, and spend time with my friends. I am very much into yoga and meditation, and would love to get more experience in those types of environments after my experience in a meditation retreat in South Korea.
My intention of joining Workaway is to connect with myself and the people that inhabit the places I visit. I love the experience of talking and connecting with the people in the countries that I visit. Therefore I always try to become acquinted with the language to interact with the people from there. I believe that volunteering is a beautiful venue to get to very interesting places and interact with inspiring people. Despite the fact that I am still very young, I think that I can also attribute to such an environment, due to my broad array of life experiences I have undergone thus far. -

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Despite the fact that I am still very young, I do have quite some experience volunteering abroad. I have stayed on multiple farms to help out with different farming methods and equipment. Additionally, I helped in schools to give children English classes. I have worked on multiple social volunteering locations as a cultural exchange, or passive way of learning English to natives. As a side job I have worked in various restaurant and I am familiar with general rules of interactions with clients and customers. Lastly, I am acquinted with working on locations where people come for spiritual journeys. I know what to expect in these types of environments, and find it very insightful to interact in those environments.

Allergies
I am allergic to dust, certain pollen of specific trees, and cats. However, I oftentimes interact in environments that contain any of these things and I am very flexible with living there. As long as I have my medication on me this does not bother me much -
