Hi! My name is Lili, I am 25 years old and I'm from the US Virgin Islands. I’m currently traveling through South America and trying to appreciate life more. I'm a creative person at heart--I like to write, draw, and do photography--but I've always loved being outside and doing manual labor. My ideal job would probably be planting trees or working in wildlife conservation. That kind of work is very satisfying to me. It's fun watching a project come to life and make a difference.

When I was in college I almost majored in Environmental Science, but instead I ended up majoring in Creative Writing. I don't regret that choice at all, because I truly enjoy writing. But now that I have graduated from college, I realize that I can still work out in nature through programs like Workaway or USA Conservation Corps. These programs are great because they allow people to work on diverse projects and acquire a variety of skills. It makes people more self-sufficient, which I think is SUPER important!

For the past 2 years I have lived with my aunt, uncle, and grandmother in North Carolina. We had a small garden and compost pile, and our house was surrounded by meadows and mountains. I spent a lot of time hiking into the woods, collecting wild medicinal herbs from the neighborhood, and playing with the kittens that we fostered. Sometimes we would have up to 7 kittens running around the house. It was fun, but kittens can also act like little terrorists sometimes. That's alright. I'm a big cat lover and animal lover in general. I was vegan for 6 years, but before I came to South America this year I decided to go back to being vegetarian so that I could experience more of the local food. I think maybe when I'm an old woman I will have a farm full of rescued animals (cows, goats, chickens, pigs, rabbits). I could use the manure in my garden!

I have an uncle who was a carpenter for about 30 years. When I was growing up I would help him with small construction projects like building shutters or building animal pens. So I do have a strong interest in learning how to build, whether we are using wood or cob or some other material. I think it's really special to build your own house. I admire people who are building their own houses and eating food grown on their own land.

I hope to work with people who are enthusiastic about nature and sustainable living, and I hope to help people achieve their goals. Lastly, I hope to learn something in the process :)

I like having alone time so that I can write in my journal, read, or draw. Sometimes I am also shy! For instance, I like cooking, but I get nervous in the kitchen. What if people don't like my food!? What if I BURN all the food ?! Haha! So if I'm being quiet, don't take it personally :)))

Also, I'm from St. John in the US Virgin Islands 🌺 but I've lived half of my life in the continental United States (New York, Rhode Island, Michigan, Illinois, and North Carolina).
