I recently started my backpacking trip from France to Vietnam mostly hiking and hitchhiking.

Description

I am Léo, a 28 years old french guy 😊
I am currently travelling from France to Viêtnam, hiking and hitchhiking with my backpack and my tent. I started on the 13.09.2025 and I am giving myself around a year for this project. In some places I move a lot, as in Slovenia that I hiked through in a bit less than a month, whereas I would like to settle down a bit more in others. I thought that workaway would be a productive way to do the latter.
I have already travelled a fair amount before, with family, friends, on my own, for studies and for work. I love discovering new places, activities and landscapes. I do really enjoy doing that on my own but I equally like to share those experiences with others.
I love nature and just contemplating lanscapes, and I love animals. I actually studied animal behaviour and I have worked with different species. For exemple with cockatoos for my master thesis, and with free ranging dogs in morocco, for the university of Vienna in Austria, doing research on sociability and social learning.
I also love sport, and I have practiced a few, for various periods of time: soccer, running, tennis, badminton, horse riding, ping pong, bouldering, ultimate frisbee, exercicing at home or at the gym.
Overall, I like the idea of experiencing different kind of lifestyles for a short while.
I think they are so many places on earth to see, so many people to meet, and as many ways to live a life. I would like to exerience as many of those as I could, sometimes for a week, sometimes for a year.
And that's why I am ready for any kind of work, even if they are not in my field of expertise or in my centers of interest, as I'd be happy to try out and learn anyway.

Spanish : improve Russian : learning from scratch I learnt spanish at school, and lived in Mexico for 6 months. My level used to be good enough to understand pretty much everything, and have decent conversations. However it's been a while now and I am losing what I have learnt. I would like being able to practice more to not lose or even improve my level For Russian, I just decided to start learning something new. I have just started, from zero, and I am learning on my own. Honestly, hard to say how much Ill invest into that, but having a buddy could sure help out and motivates me!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I think my main qualities are being very openminded, flexible, and adapting fast, for work but also for the daily life.
I travelled quite a bit in my life already, lived in different conditions and met a lot of different people.
Therefore, I would say I can work under all type of conditions, and I am always ready to learn. I can work and live on my own if the hosts are busy, but I also enjoy working in a team, which I already do for my job. I am used to deal with people but also with animals, as I work on animal behaviour (I have some experience with dogs, birds and reptiles).
I generally like everything related to nature and outdoor activities, and though I wouldnt say I have specific skills in gardening, carpenting etc I used to help my dad around the house in french' country side, and those are skills I'd love to learn better.
I used to draw too, and I always loved art. I am not really taking the time for that anymore but I would enjoy an opportunity to do it again.
And though I am not playing any instrument, I Love music!

I speak fluent french and english, and I have an intermediate level in spanish.
