About Me!

Hello! I’m Lena, a 28-year-old freelance designer from South Germany, with a background in Information Design and a sense of adventure. After finishing my studies, I decided to explore new experiences that blend creativity, nature, and meeting people from diverse backgrounds. I’m currently in South Germany, but I’m planning to begin Workawaying within Germany and work my way up through the Nordic countries, including Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

Why Workaway?

I’m eager to experience the unique blend of rural life and nearby cities in the Nordic region, particularly places where I can enjoy nature, farm life, and local culture. I’m looking forward to spending time on farms or in rural communities with easy access to nearby towns and cities. My goal is to make meaningful connections, learn practical skills, and dive into new experiences that expand my perspective.

What I Bring:

I’m open, candid, and genuinely motivated. I thrive in social settings, love making people laugh, and enjoy engaging with all kinds of personalities. With a 3-year apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant, I gained valuable skills in teamwork, responsibility, and self-development—skills I’ve also applied in my freelance design work (including Content Writing and designing). I’m excited to bring this experience to hands-on, community-based projects.

My Goals | Through Workaway, I hope to:

Connect with welcoming, open-minded people
Learn new skills in farming, animal care, and other hands-on tasks
Exchange experiences and learn from different lifestyles
Improve my English and maybe pick up a bit of a Nordic language!
Learn outdoor activities like surfing and other sports
Help out with house, farm, or camp projects
Enjoy the beauty of nature and appreciate life at a slower pace
Take time to read and recharge

My Interests:

Reading and Writing: From Hermann Hesse to books on personal growth, I enjoy reading that challenges and inspires me. Also I am writing poems and try to write a novel at the moment.
Arts: I love drawing and illustrating and would like to spend more time improving it.
Sports & Health: I’m always open to learning new ways to live healthily.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’m happy to help with any tasks you assign, and I’m motivated to learn new things along the way! I can assist with household tasks like doing laundry, cleaning, preparing meals, cooking, shopping, and more. I can also help with children, whether that’s assisting with homework or just keeping them entertained.

I’m very interested in exploring farm work and spending time outdoors. I especially enjoy working with animals, particularly chickens, and would love the chance to help on a farm. My family and I kept a small flock of chickens for 10 years, so I have some experience in caring for them.
