Hello,
My name is Lars, I am 28 years old and come from the southwest of Germany. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I worked as a mechanical engineer in the design and construction department for the last few years. I have now resigned and would like to travel the world for several years, experience as much as possible, have a good time and help where help is needed.

I just finished one year of my working holiday in Australia and in this time I was able to reach some previous experience with Workaway, having stayed twice with a host family in Brisbane. During my time there, I was responsible for various tasks, including property maintenance, clearing a wooded area, and preparing firewood. Additionally, I carried out a range of cleaning duties, such as maintaining the patio, clearing gutters, and removing leaves from the driveway. Another key responsibility was caring for two dogs, which involved feeding, walking, and providing general care. In Australia I was working a couple of months as a caravan repair technician and grained a lot of experience in fixing all different type of stuff. I also worked as a Off-road Car outfitter mechanic at ARB.

I grew up in a small village on a little farm, so in addition to my normal job, every year I helped my parents to look after the fruit fields, cut the grass and in the winter, we cut wood in the nearby forest. This means I can easily drive a tractor, a lawnmower and use a chainsaw. I also always helped in the garden, sowing seeds, harvesting fruits and vegetables and with structural tasks around the house, for example building a pool or a carport/garage. So, I learned a lot of skills and am generally good at all agricultural and construction work. I also have my own projects such as renovating my apartment or a completely build my van into a cozy camper, with all the steel and woodwork, electrical and water components.

I also have experience in childcare and in being friendly with customers. I worked in a front office at an amusement park and in a call center at a shipping company. I am an absolute animal friend, I have always grown up with animals and have learned to deal with them well, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, and chickens.

I am positive, friendly, and hard-working Person, ready to help others and open to try and learn new things. My friends would probably say I am someone you can have both a good laugh and a serious talk with. And I must admit I love listening to others and having good conversations with them. That is why I also see myself as an easy-going person who can adjust to various situations, people, and type of work.

As far as my free time is concerned, I always love to travel with my self-converted campervan to go surfing at the coast of Portugal and Spain or for a hike and climbing in the Alps of Switzerland. In addition, I also really like to go for a ride with my motorcycle. I am also interested in photography and videography.

I have a driver's license and I'm fully vaccinated against Covid and any other types of diseases.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

The expertise at my main Job as a Mechanical Engineer are design and construction skills, CAD-Modelling and Standard Office Programs, knowledge about common manufacturing techniques such as welding, drilling, milling. Working as a part of a team and as a foreman, communication and operating with international employees and customers at different projects all over the world.

While I‘m traveling the world, I have reached a good knowledge about fixing Caravans and RV‘s. Installing all different kinds of camping gear and off-road equipment at cars. General knowledge about working on a Farm, cutting trees , making firewood, driving an ATV, all types of cleaning and caring about pets.

I have experience at growing fruits and vegetables, driving a tractor and cutting firewood with a chainsaw. I’m also good at any kind of steel- and woodwork, renovation work and building/fixing parts of a house.

Additionally, I have skills from my second income working in costumer services in different kinds. I also good at childcare as example sitting my neighbors’ children. And I also animal friendly to any kinds of animals.

I also consider myself as a clean person, because I tidy up after myself and regularly do all the household chores. As I have already mentioned, I'm a reliable person who is not afraid of work and I always try to do my best!

I'm good at photography, decent at cooking, babysitting, understanding, and working with computers, editing photos with Adobe Lightroom. I'm pretty good with technology and could help you figure out your computer, phone as well as do promotional or personal photography.
