Hello!!
We‘re from Germany and planning to travel Norway in summer. We‘ve never been to Scandinavia but always dreamt of seeing it :) My name is Leonie and I‘m 25 years old and travelling with my younger sister Lara, who’s 19 and has graduated from school last year. I studied Medicine in the past six years and would love to travel again before I start working as a doctor. Lara is thinking about studying the Law or Psychology and would also love to travel before beginning in winter. Having finished school in 2018 my twin sister and I travelled New Zealand and Australia for about 6 months and we made three workaway experiences, all very different and all with amazingly beautiful memories. So I’d love to show Lara, but this time travel a very different location :)
We would love to make as many life-enriching experiences as possible, meet friendly people and make life-time memories. Apart from visiting the main tourist destinations and routes we’d like to see the country from a more authentic perspective and see the remote, less touristic places as well. We love all sorts of sports, music and arts, enjoy being outside and discover the surrounding nature as well as improve our language skills. In our freetime we play lots of tennis, go hiking, in-line-skating, play beach-volleyball or walk our lovely dog. We love to read, draw or bake and meet friends. We are very close with our family and spend much time outside and in our garden in summer. Apart from travelling we would love to work and to meet nice people, learn new skills and get to know a new culture.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
We would describe ourselves as warm-hearted, reliable and caring people.

We like to spend lots of time outside, work hard and do not hesitate to get our hands dirty. For my first workaway experience my twin sister and I joined a couple in the north of Sydney for two weeks and we learned to do some gardening very different from what we knew from Germany :) Everything is giant, growing much quicker.. We did some work around the house, painted some rooms and helped producing honey from their three bee-hives.

We have a lot of experience when it comes to babysitting and childcare. I spent lots of time with Lara when she was little and two weeks with a family of five children from 1 to 9 years old and two amazing german shepherd dogs in Cairns as a workaway experience. We were three workawayers at the time and our tasks involved babysitting, as well as preparing meals, general tasks around the house such as cleaning, doing the laundry, gardening and weeding, caring for the dogs and housesitting when they were on holiday. We both worked as tennis coaches during the summer camps and I helped teaching at a primary school for a while. We both tutored children of all ages in different subjects, such as German, Maths, Latin or French.

We´ve got a beautiful dog and had rabbits when we were younger. I spent three weeks on a farm in New South Wales, where we were about seven workawayers from all around the world at a time, with tasks ranging from feeding the animals such as cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits adn guinea pigs, cleaning their shelter, saving the chickens from the snakes in the evenings, milking cows or feeding the little calf. They had a campground where we showed the children how to help with the animals, prepared the cabins, built a vegetable garden and helped with the catering service on special occasions.

We are used to taking over responsibility, as well as handle or communicate difficult situations and react promptly, having spent lots of time working at the hospital. We´re patient and focused and ambitious learners, always eager to challenge what we know, see what else is there and to improve our skills.
I love teaching students about anatomy or explaining and showing how sonography works and always finding out how differently they are approaching challenges and how enthusiastic when it works well or a problem is understood.

During my years at school I worked in a small shop, selling local fruit and vegetables on holidays. For me, it was the first time that I worked and interacted with so many different people.
Now, that I´ve finished school, I started working as a waitress in a restaurant close to the city where we live. There I was able to learn many different things, such as improving my communication skills, facing problems spontaneously or working in a team with my colleagues.

Most importantly, we are motivated to make the most of our travels, learn as much as possible, meet nice people and open to make more beautiful memories :D

We spent three beautiful weeks here. From late August till the beginning of September. It was my fourth workaway and I feel like this is an amazingly beautiful place :)

Ellen and Anton, Noah and Steven are four exceedingly welcoming and open-minded people, and they made it easy to love this special place within little time.

I think the… read more work and projects change in the course of the year. When we were there, in the late summer and early autumn, we spent a lot of time picking and sorting berries, all sorts of them. There were so many! It was amazing. And we enjoyed this meditative type of work every day. We made jam and juice, and Ellen made wonderful desserts out of them. Picking blueberries on the very steep hill in the forest one evening became one of my favourite memories. We also went looking for mushrooms together, prepared the guests’ apartments, made Granola and Ellen showed us how to bake bread. We spent most of the days outside, lowing the mawn :D, gardening, harvesting vegetables or camomile for the herb project. The wood project was one of our favourite ones, too, when Anton explained to us how to chop and stack wood for the winter.

Every morning, we would sit down with Ellen or Anton and discuss what could happen and be done today. Communication was great and easy, and it was always very clear what to do. If any questions occurred, we could always ask. All of them know a great deal of things and they are the best teachers and very good in sharing their knowledge, so one learns a lot :). I found that very impressive.

Once we were invited to join one of Ellen’s house concerts which was very special and very unique. Some other day we joined her yoga class at a friend’s house. Anton and Steven are both teachers at the school, and Anton explained a lot and showed us around. This is a very special place and fascinating to see, because it’s very different from what we knew. We met friends of Ellen and Anton’s who are both artists and who loved to show us the various projects they are working on and share some beautiful stories. Steven always comes up with interesting topics and questions all of them very worth thinking about. We also got to know other workawayers and guests who were former students to visit, travellers, musicians and singers, very creative, friendly and interesting people. Ellen and Anton seem to be so good in bringing people together, who are leading different lives, and coming from different parts around the world, in some warm and happy way. One evening, we cooked and sat around one huge table with people from eleven different countries.

On our days off we liked to walk on top of Husfjellet, from which you have a nice view on the Fjord and Rissa. It’s also easy to visit Trondheim which is beautiful. Some time we spent at the farm, watching the sheep and the cows and chickens, had lunch outside and enjoyed all the space and the quiet. It is an amazingly warm and peaceful place.

Anton, Ellen, Noah and Steven are some positive, warm and hardworking people who know a lot and are so happy and good at sharing their knowledge. They made this a very unique experience and it is an inspiring place. I’m very happy for everyone who gets to spend some time here. It’s a wonderful way to get to know Norway.

Thanks to all four of you. We would be so happy to come back one day :).
