Hi we're Kester(21) and Mali(22)! We come from Wales and met in Greece 2 years ago and both fell in love with travelling. Now we are travelling south east Asia. We both enjoy games, cooking, art, being out in nature and meeting new people and places.

•Kester - I grew up in a rural area in Wales. From a young age I have been helping around the farm in any way I can, including growing vegetables and tending to animals big and small. I love to work with people and have spent the last 2 years working as a care assistant. I am an artist in my spare time, creating beautiful patterns with contrasting colours. I am a very happy person and work hard to learn new skills and achieve my goals. I love to travel and meet new people and workaway has been a great tool to do this.

•Mali- having grown up in the countryside in Wales I love nature and all animals, and I’m a vegetarian. My favourite jobs have been in a school and as a children’s entertainer, working with kids is amazing! I have also worked in cafes and restaurants and with old people as a carer. I really enjoy being creative, whether that’s painting, face painting, mosaic or something new. Circus skills also interest me, I do hooping and fire staff. At home I have 30 houseplants, and would help in our family garden when I lived at home, and would love to expand those skills. Travelling allows me to meet new people and discover new things about myself, I’d love to learn other languages and about different cultures.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Kester - In terms of formal education, I have done my basic GCSE's as well as two years in college. In my first year, I did equine studies level 2(working with horses) and in my second year, I did a pre-access course. However, I believe my skills have come from working, I have had three jobs; farm/forestry labour, kitchen hand at a chip shop and a care assistant in a nursing home and supported living.
From a young age, I have helped out on my parents vegetable farm as well as maintain the surrounding forestry. This has given me a good knowledge of plant growing, persistence when completing a job and confidence in my physical ability.
In my second job at the chip shop, I worked for just under a year. In this job I was required to thoroughly clean the restaurant, kitchen and dishes as well as take orders, use the till and serve customers in general. All of which I am competent in and would be happy to do again.
My most recent job in the care industry I have been working at for the past 2 years. This job gave me the opportunity to work with people young and old who needed assistance with all their day to day activities. This gave me skills working with people, I know how to work efficiently as a team to deal with all sorts of situations involving people.
In general, I am happy to do whatever is needed and open to learn any new skills.

Mali - In college I studied performing arts and musical theatre, so I love performance and music, and play the piano. I also did art as a GCSE, and enjoy being creative in different ways. For instance one of my jobs was as a face painter. I worked as a children’s entertainer in a dinosaur adventure park, and worked in a school with children aged 3-7, so have some knowledgeable working with kids. I also helped in an alternative school in Turkey. I have worked as a cook in a vegetarian cafe so enjoying sharing tips and recipes. At one point I was a cleaner in a holiday resort so have good attention to detail.

We are very relaxed and social people. We aren't awkward and don't like to cause any problems. We are looking to work hard and have a unique experience. We look forward to meeting who ever we stay with.
