Hi there! I’m Katja, a freshly graduated anthropologist looking to take some time to travel and gain some new insights and experiences. The next destination for me will be Norway, as I plan on moving to Tromsø for my masters in August and therefore wish to get to know the country a bit better beforehand :) Four years ago I moved from Germany to Scotland for my studies, which is also where I fell in love with rock climbing (now a big part of my life). I adore outdoor adventures with friends and am incredibly grateful for the amazing people I got to meet through this hobby. As you can perhaps tell, I am a very active and social person, though I also enjoy reading and drawing a lot. I strongly value connection and compassion towards others and our environment and would love to participate in Workaway projects that reflect this. So far, Workaway has enabled me to work on a donkey sanctuary in Spain for a month, a community farm in Bavaria, a climbing hostel in Croatia, a tea shop in Austria, and most recently a guest house in Scotland. Each was an incredible experience I am very open and excited to see what further adventures this year will hold.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

1. Hospitality
• I have experience working in hostels, being responsible for cooking (mainly vegetarian dishes), catering, cleaning, and room service.
2. Childminding
• I have worked as a babysitter for years, been an Au Pair, as well as having absolved a brief work experience as a nursery teacher.
3. Gardening and farm work
• Through my last workaway I was able to gain some insight into working on a farm, which mainly included cleaning stables and attending to the feeding the animals. I have also partaken several gardening sessions at university, which has served as an introduction into gardening.
4. Languages
• Fluent in German and English
• Advanced in Spanish
5. Anthropology Degree
• In general, my degree has taught me a lot of sensibility towards different perspectives, as well as increasing my appreciation and curiosity regarding people’s stories and different ways of relating to the world.
