Description

Hi I'm Katie! A New Zealander who is very easy going but hard working. I love nature, hiking, swimming in the sea, snowboarding. For the past few years I have been working as a park ranger in a National Park in New Zealand living on a (sometimes) snowy mountain in a small village with a ski resort and a world famous hike. While there, I was also a firefighter. I want to find similar unique communities overseas where I can be surrounded by the outdoors and friendly people.

I have experience with:

• Visitor engagement/customer service ~ used to interacting with a large amount of visitors daily from all over the world and providing knowledge/advice
• Guiding activities
• Outdoor work - maintenance of outdoor facilities, manual labour, confident in the outdoors and with isolation in places with extreme weather
• I have a Masters in tourism, so general interest and knowledge in this area
• Conservation
• Looking after children ages 1-10 years
• Pet sitting and house sitting
• Cleaning

I am in Japan on a working holiday visa. I want to experience Japanese communities, snow and learn more of the langauge while I am there.

I am on workaway because when I travel I like to engage with the people and the place on a deeper level and I like to stay in one place for a long period. Doing this also takes you to places you never would have thought of and so you get to experience something really different and special! I have done a few workaways when travelling in 2019 and they have been my best experiences.
