hey hey, my name is Karla and I'm from Germany. I'm 20 years old and I graduated from school in June 2024 and started to Travel. I grew up travelling, with a bus and with camping, also hosting travellers in our home. I am very grateful to my parents that I have been able to travel much from a young age. Now I'm looking forward to travelling alone and getting to know lots of people, new cultures and languages. I think that travelling brings us the best experiences and opportunities and the greatest learnings! I love nature and love to go to find swimming places and hiking in the mountains, I am also very interested in culture: I act in the theatre, dance and sing. I am open to new things and want to try out and learn as much as possible!
I had the chance to travel for 10 months in South America and get to know the wonderful people and cultures while being part of many amazing projects trough Workaway and other volunteerings! I also learned Spanish, which I am excited to continue to learn.
Now I arrived to southeast Asia and I am looking so much forward to travelling around here and being part of some new interesting projects!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have been babysitting children for 7 years. I've also been working at the "Erfahrungsfeld der Sinne" for three years, where I've given guided tours. I went to a Montessori school, so I had the opportunity to get a taste of many professions through internships: day nursery, kindergarten, school, after-school care centre, confectionery, bakery, project artist, sign language interpreter, web design, shoemaker, workshop for the disabled, clay and textile artist.
I also worked one month in a school near Barcelona in Spain.
As student representative, I have also organised and planned many projects.
From September to December 2024 I lived as an AuPair with a family in Chile for 3 months. Additionally during my time there, I helped out in a cafe and in a language school. There I organised and held group lessons for kids and teens, mostly organising activities and workshops. Social Media was also my job, to document everything and make little videos for instagram.
In Brasil I worked in an ecological project, were we cleaned the sea and beaches and recycled the plastics, additionally, we were planting fruits and vegetables and we were doing lots of handicrafts to fix everything and build new little buildings.
In the jungle in the north of Argentina I learned how to build houses out of wood, how to varnish the wood and how to maintain wild land and plants.
In Uruguay I worked in a women's help shelter, where I would watch kids age 2weeks- 9 years, while the mothers studied.
And in Peru I worked for two months in a Spanish school, with my role being mostly the student coordinator. It was a lot of hospitality work, as the students were living in the school or in hosts families, that we organised for them. The Workaway was also organising activities for the students after school, doing social media, writing blogposts and working in the tourist agency that belongs to the school.
As you can see, I could already be part of many projects and enjoyed every one! I am open for every opportunity and ready to learn a lot!
I am used to being very open due to my long time travelling alone and can interact easily with people. I'm excited to see how I can be a part of your team!
