Description

Hello, we are Katy and George. We are 31 and 30, from Bristol in the UK and travelling for the next year. We're unsure on our destination but will be starting in India in October and hope to do some kind of a world loop.

Katy is currently taking a 12 month career break from her role developing policy for trees and woodland in England at the Forestry Commission. George is a heating engineer and is putting his business on hold while we go away. We love travelling, exploring new places and experiencing new cultures. We hope to use this year to build new skills, meet new people and experience life away from the city grind.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Katy's Skills:
I have a number of skills and I am also keen to have the opportunity to learn new skills while I am away.

From an education perspective, I have a BSc in Environmental Sciences and an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security.

I have spent the past 6 and a half years working on policy for trees and woodland in England at the Forestry Commission. During this time I also delivered extensive project and people management. I have developed a number of skills including project and programme management, policy writing and stakeholder engagement.

Outside of work my partner and I have spent the past year renovating our house. I've developed some reasonable DIY skills during this time and am pretty handy with a paint brush.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking and caring for our dog poppy. I also enjoy cycling, running, yoga and surfing. Whenever I am away, I am keen to find opportunities to scuba dive and snorkel.

I love travelling and have visited many countries in the past. I spent 6 months living in Belize and volunteering at an Environmental NGO called TIDE Belize as an intern. I loved living and working alongside local Belizeans and working towards the same goal of conserving the marine and terrestrial ecosystems and supporting local communities.

George's Skills:
I grew up on a beef farm in the UK, from which I gained a great deal of experience in all things maintenance. I went on to study agriculture at college, after which I worked on a sheep station in the flinders ranges in Australia where my passion towards livestock husbandry grew stronger! After returning from my time away I got a job as a plumber in Falmouth UK, I now run my own Plumbing and Heating Business in Bristol where I mainly fit Air Source heat pumps and Gas boilers.
