Description

Hi! We are Juliette and Laeticia, a couple of 23 and 24 years old women, and we’re planning to travel a lot in the future, mixing seasonnal jobs/volunteering and backpacking, and hopefully visiting a lot of countries :)
This is actually the first time we’re writing an introduction about ourselves, and even though we both love writing, it still is a bit difficult when it comes to introduce ourselves (and also to keep it short haha)

We are both deeply passionate about nature, ecology, and biodiversity — so much so that we chose to make them the focus of our studies and future careers! We aspire to take part in volunteering, an experience we have already had through civic service and volunteer work with many associations dedicated to protecting animals and nature.

We have known each other for about 5 years now, and we both share the same values and passions, whether it’s human values such as tolerance, kindness, and open-mindedness, or our connection to nature and all its treasures, animals, and the environment in general. Having both lived with animals all our lives, we love being around them, and are even foster families for cats (we would have loved to foster many more animals if we didn’t live in a small student apartment ^^).
Nature and animals are our safe place; a free space full of beauty and curiosity (speaking of curiosity, we love collecting little treasures from nature, such as feathers, which we enjoy making a small collection of. If you love souvenirs, be warned : there’s a good chance we might gift you a pretty stone! 😁) Surrounded by nature, whether in valleys or mountains, we love spending time outdoors, observing and listening to the world around us, and sharing these moments with four-legged travel companions!

We aspired to travel as soon as we finished our studies, in order to discover what the world has to offer, to observe and marvel at the richness of landscapes we haven’t yet had the chance to see, just stepping out of student life. We dream of learning about and experiencing new ways of life and cultures. It is for all these reasons (and many more!) that we just signed up here, looking for a Workaway project that aligns with everything we aspire to, and where we can give back as much as possible in return 🤗

We’re spontaneous, cheerful people, with a strong desire to accomplish something meaningful with all our hearts.
We value quiet moments, enjoy listening to others, and like adapting to everyone’s rhythm, respecting community life. We can be rather calm at first, but once we feel comfortable, we can share and talk a lot, laugh, and engage in deep conversations and cultural exchanges, with our curiosity and our eagerness to learn and share.

Our second passion is art: we enjoy all things creative, from drawing, writing and painting to sculpture and embroidery. We love dedicating time to creative activities whenever we feel inspired.

We wrote this profile together to share our common vibe and aspirations, but we would be very happy to introduce ourselves individually as we exchange messages 😊

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Professionally, we both have a master’s degree in environmental science/management. We aim to specialise ourselves in entomology, but cultivate a variety of skills within our field: botany, herpetology, habitat restoration, field surveys, safeguarding biodiversity…
We both come from rural towns, and appreciate country work, especially when it comes to orchards and garden maintenance. Like a lot of children growing up in the country, we’re used to planting trees, managing a vegetable garden, cutting wood, harvesting fruits and foraging (Juliette especially loves foraging forests in search of berries and mushrooms).
As well as being nature lovers, we’re animals lovers. We have an easy time befriending animals and caring for them, and have rescued a few feral cats. We know how to ride horses, but don’t have the same level of this skill (although we both are kinda beginners).

We are very curious in our day to day life, and try almost every hobby and crafts that we can when we have the time and tools required for it. Thanks to this constant interest in trying new things, we acquired a lot of « small skills » in a lot of fields (we are certainly not experts at any of these, but can manage them with more or less ease :) ).
In artistic field, we can paint, draw, sculpt, sew, write stories, bring a creative mindset…
For handcrafts, we can help in small construction projects (by that we mean that we could probably not build a house, but could help building a shed or furniture for example), repairing objects, painting surfaces… We would say that Juliette feels the most comfortable in participating in those tasks as she did it a lot of times, but Laeticia would absolutely love to take part in it with some ease too!
For the household maintenance, we both know how to take care of a house (cleaning, laundry, small repairs…) and can cook (although our meals aren’t the most fancy of all haha). Laeticia usually bakes the most (cakes and other desserts), while Juliette prefers to cook meals.

We may be a couple, but we remain separate people: our skills levels may differ depending on the person it may concern :) We learn a lot from each other though, and that’s why we wished to combine our skills into this paragraph: the both of us could probably do the same task, with different levels of ease!
