My name's Diane and my son, Kyle is 21 and we're from the Portland Metro area in Oregon. This will be our second time "Workawaying" and the possibilities still seem endless! I'm very adventurous and always been interested in cultural/work exchange; I was an exchange student in Germany twice and still get together once/month to keep it up. Kyle is interested in languages as well, Japanese in particular. He's a late bloomer, a bit on the spectrum, and super quiet around most people, so us going together makes sense. I'll talk enough for both of us!

I am happily married and my husband and I think this is a good opportunity, particularly for Kyle. We've been married two years... so Dirk still knows how to live alone for a couple of weeks!

I have many interests; right now I love Pickleball and play often. I love bicycling, exploring nature, playing music (mainly singing & dancing!) and swimming. I have been gardening a lot lately and would love to help with your gardening, too! We are in good physical health; Kyle's super tall and pretty strong... so you can think of those tasks you need that are out of reach or require too much heavy lifting. We've been doing lots of projects around the house -- painting fences, moving bark chips/soil, planting flowers & seeds for vegetables... We even played with red bricks a bit this month! We're happy to help with whatever projects you have.

We can manage well in the kitchen, and since Kyle has become a Vegetarian, I'm learning vegetarian meals. I enjoy following recipes. Kyle likes to bake. We're also decent at cleaning as a team. And Kyle's also decent at putting store-bought stuff together, like from Ikea...

Also, I love children! I'm naturally drawn to young people, they are so often very candid, and fun and creative! I'm more than happy to become acquainted and babysit your children... or hang with your teens. I've been a substitute teacher off and on for many years and raised two children myself.

I'm seeking places where it's not too crazy chaotic and where Kyle could get away and relax with his music when he's done with the work. I like to be more social myself, maybe play some board games... like "Cranium" and "Ticket to Ride".... and make some music, if you take the lead! :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

-----Organizing and cleaning as a team with my son. I always consider both aesthetics and function, when organizing.
------Pressure washing, using a shop vac (or regular vac!), moving furniture, painting fences, building projects that come with guidelines, and removing blackberry bushes.... These are Kyle's specialties; he's tall and strong.
------Babysitting and/or hanging with teens. I'm great with kids and a born teacher, more than happy to babysit... or engage with your teens. I substitute 1-5 days all school year long, from Kindergarten to high school.
------Gardening. We're becoming increasingly skilled in the garden.
------Dog and cat care! I've always had a cat, but realized recently I'm actually a dog person! Happy to look after your animals, once you've explained their needs/wants.

When we're done with our work, I'm happy to explore nature, towns and cities alike (perhaps with my son or perhaps with somebody in your family/friends?). I'm good to learn some of your games and favorite past times! My son Kyle might prefer to sit and watch... or relax in his own space.
