Hey!
My name is Jonas, I am 26 years old and just finished my studies. I grew up in Switzerland as half Romansh (Swiss) half German. During the childhood I lived mainly in the Italian speaking part of the country. For this I like to think that I am a bit a mixed salad between the Italian, German and Romansh culture. During my higher studies I lived in the French part of Switzerland.

I have three brothers and like a familiar evironment, built on reciprocal respect and surrounded by warm-hearted people. The last few years I lived in different shared flats and had always nice experiences. Indeed, I consider myself to be an easy-going person, able to make compromises and generally social. Sometimes I like to be alone and refuel my social energy but I also like to sit around the after dinner and discuss of all and nothing. People sometimes say that I have high culinary standards, but I just like my pasta with passata di pomodoro instead of ketchup and to cook fresh vegetables instead of buying industrialized food with tons of sugar and other additives.

In the work environment the comment that a collegue once made, which most resonates with me, is "relaxed yet driving". I like to do the things properly, rather than redoing quick-fixes every 2 days. I am as well proactive and like very dinamic work environments. Finally, with a fun team and nice people around me the task becomes secondary.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I like to believe that my set of skills spans across various disciplines, ranging from very practical ones to highly theoretical.

I know how to use a drill, saws and other common power tools frequently used in the DIY domain. I have a good practicality and generally learn fast.

Since the age of 14, I work every summer season during my years as a student.
This allowed me to work in a hostel for two summer seasons, helping out in the housekeeping and in the kitchen.
Additionally, for the last 12 years I worked in a lido bar as allrounder, working mainly in the kitchen the last years, but helping out as well with various other tasks, such as mantaining the area or selling ice cream and beverages.

I refused to do the obligatory military service in Switzerland and chose to do civilian service instead, where I had the opportunity of working in a kitchen of a social health-care institution for elderly people.
The second half of my civilian service was in a high school, as an assistent teacher in Math, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Along with it came courses on working with young people and conflict management.

Over the period of one year I was coach of a sport event for young adolescents from the age of 10-14. This job was again complemented with courses on group management and solving conflicts.

I studied Robotics which lies at the intersection of mechanincs, electronics and informatics and concluded my academic curriculum with a Master's Degree in this field, with a minor in Photonics.

During the studies I attended a polymechanics internship, where I learnt to use the main tools like a lathe, mill, drills, ...

Also, various practicals and projects allowed me to directly apply the theory around electronics by implementing basic circuits or in the domain of informatics by programming drones or developping control algorithms.

I am well-versed with photography and graphic design and have some basic knowledge in web design.

I like to take pictures in my free time and to hike, contemplating the amazing landscapes and scenarios that weather and time offer to us to enjoy.

I play the piano every now and then and I like to draw as well.

I like to experiment in the kitchen and discover new ways of cooking or new ingredients.

Provided a set of 54 playing cards (a set of poker cards) I can teach quite some games, provided two even more!

I like to work on my artistic projects and graphic design. I designed a website from scratch as my photography portfolio (check it out under JonasUlbrich.ch).
