Hi, my name is Johnny, I’m 25 years old and I come from the western part of Germany. I’m generally a very open-minded, curious, reliable, and calm person who loves trying new things, which is exactly what brought me to Workaway!

I’m also a pretty creative soul. Over the years I’ve designed buttons, patches, and shirts, and I love to draw, paint, and build things. One of my more unusual hobbies was building dioramas at 1:12 scale for a couple of years. Oh, and since we all need to eat, I really enjoy cooking too! 😄

Music and film are close to my heart as well. My taste in music is quite broad, from Metal to 50s–80s Rock and Punk, and a lot more. I love making mixtapes for friends, I’ve worked in a record store, and I go to concerts regularly. When it comes to movies, I have a soft spot for old-school cinemas. And whenever life gets too fast, I love stepping out into nature to recharge.

When it comes to animals, I feel right at home. I’ve kept fish and three chameleons in the past, and I’ve always been surrounded by lots of animals in my life, so I’m comfortable and caring around all kinds of them.

I’m genuinely excited to explore Portugal, meet new people, and dive into the local culture. I bring a good attitude, a willingness to help, and I am looking forward to meet new people.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Over the past few months, I’ve been working with elderly people suffering from dementia and people with disabilities, and I got involved in the social sector early on in my life. I completed a voluntary social year at a workshop for people with disabilities and later spent six months in the internal medicine department of a hospital. Working with people, even in difficult situations, has never been an issue for me. Patience and empathy are qualities I consider essential in this kind of work, and ones I bring naturally to everything I do.

Beyond that, my work experience is quite varied. I worked in a record store, spent a couple of years at a signage and advertising technology company where I sharpened my eye for design and developed my creative skills further, and I even worked on the ground and up trees in a tree care company at one point. All of this gave me plenty of practical, hands-on experience for all kinds of projects around the house and garden.

I can really see myself working in the events industry, setting up and helping out at festivals or concerts. I’m also very open to farm work or tasks around the house and garden. In general, I’m someone who works precisely, brings creativity to the table, and isn’t afraid to get my hands dirty.
