Dear hosts, ,
I retired in January 2022 after 48 years of continuous employment. I spent the last three years looking after my mother, who was in great need of care.
We live in a very rural area in northern Bavaria. We have a vegetable garden and a forest that I have been planting and caring for years. I grow the tree seedlings (spruce, maple and oak) myself in the garden and transplant them into our forest after about 4 years. We get around 40 percent of our vegetables and fruits from our garden. I take vegetable seeds and sow them again the following season. We use no chemicals and only compost fertilizer. We don't have any farm animals, just cats to regulate the mouse population.
I am very skilled at craftsmanship, my house has never seen a other craftsman. Due to my job, I can carry out all electrical and electronic work, lay and plaster bricks, lay water pipes and do carpentry work myself. In my life I have helped to build 5 houses for the children and relatives.
I enjoy working with wood and my hands, making repairs, doing physical work and using my creative side. For me, working as a workaway person not only means having a place and food, but also a mutual exchange of experiences and culture.
