Whaats up! My name is João, from Lisbon Portugal and recently decided to take a shift in my life : ) I was working at an environmental engineering company that stopped fulfilling me. The fact that I was "closed" inside an office from 9 to 5 and interacting mainly with a computer was the reason for my sense of emptiness. Realised that although I like engineering, my main passions are environment and people.
So I quit earlier this year in search of new adventures, and little did I know the first one was going to be a tourist guide! I did it for 6 months in Lisbon and was an amaaazing experience. Finally, in September, I started to fulfill one of my dreams - to solo travel Asia.
The plan is to travel until I run out of my savings, or losing the drive to travel... which is very unlikely ehehe Although discovering new places and cultures is one of my biggest motivations, I don't want to be jumping from one place to another all the time. In the process, I want to have new work/volunteer experiences in projects that I believe in. Not only to save money on accommodation and food, but most importantly to grow while I am contributing to a cause I identify with and to connect more deeply with the places and people of the experience. Although I am "solo" traveling, I feel I am traveling with the people I meet during the journey!!
I would love to be a part of NGO work or projects related to water management, environment protection, sustainability, permaculture and humanitary causes. If the opportunity is interesting, I am also open to try something different, just for the simple sake of trying something new!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Professionally, my biggest knowledge and skills are environmental engineering (especially water sector), but I also have experience in nonformal education, tourist guide, event production, DJ, and bartender/waiter. Besides that, I am a very fast learner!
Personally, I look at myself as an open-minded and good vibes guy that wants to be open mindier and good vibier 😁 Altought I am suuper laid back in my personal life, professionally I take my responsibilities seriously. You can count with a mature man, that is interested to learn new skills and contributing to projects that I believe in!
Besides that, I speak Portuguese and English fluently, Spanish ok and French with a mixture of gestural language 🤣
