Description

Hello! My name is Jessica. After working full time for a year, I have decided to take some time off to explore, something I was not able to do in college because of the pandemic. I am a people person and experience-oriented. I love meeting people, learning from people, and making meaningful connections through conversation. I have found I am usually on the go, exploring my city, traveling, or just getting a coffee with friends. I enjoy creating things, whether that be a cake, a crocheting piece, painting, or tending to the garden. I do not like to be still for too long and am almost never one to turn down an invite, from going to a concert or reading a book at the library.

I have traveled internationally to many different places and enjoy the immersion of the culture. I prefer staying in places for over a week or more so that I can get a sense of direction and a variation of experiences. This is why I am hoping to join a Workaway - so that I may make new connections and learn from locals.

I started my backpacking trip in France and Croatia and am currently doing a workaway in Hamburg Germany before heading east to Prague and Budapest.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Professionally, I have political campaign and legal consulting experience, which requires solid research skills, in addition to impeccable attention to detail and excellent writing skills. I have a college degree in Political Science and Geography. My current job requires me to be adept in academic research, public data research, and social media.

I consider myself a decent cook and baker and always eager to improve these skills and try new recipes. I have dog and cat sitting experience, including delivering medical attention to the animals. I have basic HTML, Wordpress, and Canva (social media marketing tool) knowledge. I have taken classes in sustainable agriculture and gained hands on experience working on the farm, doing several up-keeping tasks as well as gardening and preparing seedlings.

Throughout high school and college, I took care of children of all ages, from one years old to seventeen. I have housesat for long periods months at a time. I have a valid driver's license in the state I reside in.

I am quick learner and take direction well. My current job requires quick communication, oversight of several different projects and tasks simultaneously, and time management. These are all areas I am confident in and willing to apply to my Workaway stay.

I am a curious and friendly person! I am a big fan of the word board game Bananagrams and have also enjoyed playing more complex games like the Game of Thrones board game and Catan. I enjoy foosball, pool and golf. I have tried my hand at learning some styles of dance and enjoy keeping active by walking, running, and hiking.

I always have a book I'm reading. Currently, I am reading a sci-fi trilogy called the Broken Earth Trilogy. This past year, I took up crocheting and have made several small stuffed animals.

When in a new place, I head to the libraries, college campuses, art museums, beer gardens, and bodies of water. I also frequently attend live music events.

I have experience living alone, living with family hosts, and living with large groups of people. There are pros and cons to each situation, but it means I have learned how to be flexible and confident.
