  • Description

I wouldn't even know where to begin! This world is an amazing place for the most part. I fantasize about seeing it all. Sadly, there isn't enough time in one lifetime...
I believe living amidst another culture in the flesh really teaches you a lot about yourself. It puts you in a place where there are so many similarities to your hometown, but also so many subtle but at the same time gigantic differences that you must reflect upon and learn from, and that feeling is amazing. How you manage to experience and live around/through these changes is wonderful, and makes you grow. I like to reflect upon these cultural differences a lot, and spend time thinking about how the people reflects the collective and how the collective reflects the people. Also, in this same alignment, I like to think about the origins of many cultural items that I learn from, and how they relate to history and to the state of the world right now. Travel also really serves to deconstruct so much of what the media or other forms of preconceived idearies tell you about what another country is, and gets you closer to a realer worldview. This sort of reflection is a lot of what drives me to want to see the world. But please check my skills section for a not so abstract set of information and my experiences with hands-on work!
For the most part I'm an easygoing guy, not at all luxurious, trying to learn as much as I can. I'm eager to help. I read all host's introductions thoroughly and I understand (or try to understand) every situation beforehand, and I'm expecting getting my hands dirty, I think it's only fair and not a vacation. I like to use my hands, being in nature, hiking, drinking coffee or cooking. I'm a musician and love very much all artforms. I don't understand much about many of them, such as painting but I'm drawn to them often, and always want to know more about them, even if it's just the basics.
I kinda do yoga (my mom is a yoga teacher!), but for me is more of like paying attention to the relation between mind and body, and soul. But I'm no expert.
I'm an enthusiast of the humanities and I'm trying to read a whole bunch of psychoanalysis, philosophy and history. So If you're a teacher or professor and like to talk, I would love to hear ya!
Some of the reasons for my journey is that I used to work in programming and started feeling really alienated and strayed of what I really wanted to do in life, thus this "leap year" I'm taking.
I'm a nature lover, always up for a nice hike or going to a nice nature spot. I feel like I'm good with animals and plants. I still have a lot to learn about plants but I'm doing some research. I would love to have some sort of farm in the future where I can grow my own food. I believe in watching what you get into your body and eating organic produce, I feel that you can feel the difference in your body.
And very importantly: I'm happy to help! Whether is gardening or some other thing. I offer my humble pair of hands, I think it's only fair!
I'd say what I'm looking for is mostly inspiration.
Thank you for reading and I hope we can match swiftly 8)

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As for my practical skills, I painted many walls on my house since it was built from the ground and we decided to partake on the painting ourselves as a family. I painted many more as maintenance and briefly helped a professional painter as well.
I worked in retail and some tasks included cleaning and baking things in an industrial oven, but overall I've always cleaned my house and cooked and did many more chores, so I'd say I'm quite alright in the domestic help section.
I've lived with my grandmother for 3+ months and although she didn't need any elderly care as the care that is needed in very ill situations, I mention this to say that I manage pretty well with elders, keep my respects and fix my pace, and for the most part, I've enjoyed living with my granny and hearing her stories from her immigrant family :).
I climbed to very high places to fix a water tank and to perform roof and gutter cleaning; also changed my toilet flusher once or twice and tried to fix many more things around my house, not always successfully :P. But I know my way around a screwdriver and I'm not completely ignorant when it comes to plumbing or electricity.
I like to help my mother with the garden as well, and had many pets and love animals very much. I think I'm good with animals; I've never worked around them for real but I understand their language, I would say. This kind of rapport of gestures and how nature communicates, and what a mammal itself understands as danger or not, and manage pretty well in it. I know how to keep my distance or not portray any aggressiveness with my body. But I stay very humble at this point because, as I said, I've never done any real work with animals and they are people (I think of them as people too) and I don't wish to front at all that I'm an expert or anything like that.
For my not so practical skills, I can help with computers or at least diagnose them correctly. I've assembled PC's and even fixed some laptops if I don't have to weld or something like that.
I play guitar and piano and have some knowledge about music theory if anyone is interested. Also I know a lil bit of FL Studio.
I would say I could teach Spanish or English.

  • Autres infos...

I kinda like monopoly, I am not that bad at chess but I take too much time to think, if we're playing with a clock I'm doomed. I used to play LoL a lot and enjoy, in general, playing videogames if they're available but I'm not such a gamer right now. I like cards and boardgames. I like cinema too if it comes down to a movie night.
