Jenna & Austin: We are a laid back couple who live a peaceful lifestyle in the beautiful welsh countryside.We met in New York City and spent a few years living there together, but the city life wasn't for us, so we're residing in Wales where Jenna is from. We live in a Geodome and spend a lot of our time reading / studying and tending to our garden. We attend events holding various workshops from boundaries and consent, to women circles and Red Tents. We have a wonderful network of family and friends, dotted around North & South America and Europe, and value these connections so deeply. We love gathering and singing around the fire all night, and occasionally going to the odd Drum&Bass or Psytrance gig to have a good dance!

Jenna: I am a chilled out yet hard working, open minded person. I dabble in circus skills, holistic therapies such as Reiki, yoga & singing. I adore animals, & rode horses from the age of 6 until I was 17. am a quick learner, I'm very adaptable, work well under pressure (but wouldn't say that I enjoy it) , I have worked in very high standard customer service based roles, so I have skills at dealing with the public. I am organized & fairly artistic and have an eye for creating aesthetically pleasing spaces.

I'm a very bubbly and outgoing person, which has aided me in various pursuits (whether professional or workaway based) in customer service roles. I can sell things, take bookings, give tours, do promotion, wait tables, take orders, etc. I'm happy when in relaxed environments but also work well under pressure and enjoy being busy. Not afraid to get my hands dirty and have lots of experience working in farm environments, whether that's tending to vegetable gardens or working with animals from dogs to horses.
I'm a psychology student training to be a therapist / coach. So I have a lot of interest in other people and absolutely love chatting! Always down to lend an ear and support others.

I hitch hiked around Central America at the beginning of January 2018, just my small 28litre backpack and myself! In Costa I worked in a hostel doing general cleaning & bed making, and reception work; being a friendly face to welcome travelers and help them feel at home. In Nicaragua worked in bars/resteraunts, and at a chocolate factory. This involved taking orders, explaining the medicinal and healing properties of raw cacao, promoting the business in the local town & also painting signs. I also worked at a café in Lake Atitlan and loved every minute. In 2019 I did more farmstead workaways, working alongside Mayan elders and learning from them about the land, as well as practicing my Spanish as English was not spoken.

Austin: I also have a lot of experience in customer service and feel confident in such roles. I've spent the past year building a place for Jenna and I to live, where I've picked up a lot of skills in carpentry and general building. We live in a Geodesic Dome!
But I've spent a lot of my adult life in Educational roles, being a primary school teacher in New York City for a few years and holding various online teaching jobs. I have studied political theory and international relations in depth, with minors in Philosophy, and continue to spend a lot of my spare time reading academia. So I love to indulge in various political/philosophical/psychoanalytical discussion! I'm also knowledgeable in Survival / Wilderness training and jump at the chance to teach all kinds of wilderness survival techniques. Im an experienced rock climber, skier and snowboarder and love general physical activity! (I did grow up in Colorado after all.)

Together Austin and I make a good team, whether that be a work team or a social team. We emanate joy and peace and also know how to have fun! We have been together for 5 years. I've done a lot of backpack travelling by myself, but this will be Austins first official time using workaway! So I'm REALLY excited to welcome him into this lifestyle, I know he's going to thrive. We really look forward to connecting with hosts and other volunteers, as doing this has been some of the happiest moments in my life.
