  • Description

    Hello!

We are a happy-go-lucky and respectful couple who like to embrace challenges, whether it’s work related, or a new experience. Engaging with different people, exploring new places, learning new cultures and having a smile whilst doing all of this, are all a big part of who we are.

Always ready to get our hands dirty and aren't afraid of hard work. Having met whilst travelling, we like to explore, be social and thrive outdoors. We especially love the beach and ocean, especially if they involve water sports!

We have recently returned from a 3 month trip, travelling around Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos; during which, we both spent portions of the adventure travelling solo and together. Spending this time abroad allowed us to find a clear sense of ourselves independently, and also how well we work as a couple. We are excited to continue our adventure together and discover more of the world through volunteering - specifically, Central America. We are available from the end of September until the end of December, and are relatively flexible on location! We intend to try a few Workaways given the opportunity.

Together we join as a unit with a strong array of skills and talents, so where one of us may not be as skilled in, the other confidently makes up for. We are always ready to learn new things but also want to share whatever knowledge we have to help others.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

    Jayden:
In 2023 I completed my first Workaway volunteering experience, and it was an incredible experience. I was based at a surf hostel in Fuerteventura - an island known for it's great surfing conditions. Over the three months that I worked there, my main duties included; maintaining the cleanliness of the house, checking-in guests, and also encouraging them to partake in surf lessons. During my free time, I often hung out with guests and organised activities for us such as hiking, drinks, cooking together, road trips and more. It really felt like I was part of a family, making new friends from various cultures all over the world!

As a side hustle, I spent a year employed by an event’s agency that provided staff for special events. Each job was completely different, from handing out medals to marathon runners, to checking in business people at a private airport, or being part of hospitality at Tough Mudder (if you haven't heard of it before, it's a pretty crazy event). I had to stay adaptable in order to quickly fit into new roles and environments, and also work well with other people.

My first ever job was as a part time lifeguard at a private sports/leisure complex. I did this for four years, before having to leave to start university. Being qualified in pool lifeguarding, first-aid and use of the defibrillator, involved responsibility and teamwork. I also thrived in this environment, where I enjoyed mixing with members of the public. I loved studying Product Design at university because I was able to express my creativity through products and graphics. I also really enjoyed the social aspect of it too!

    Rebecca:
My family has had a huge influence on my love for travelling and I've been fortunate enough to visit many countries, but I have yet to explore the Americas! I have had a range of jobs in hospitality over the years meaning I'm highly experienced in customer care, this includes, cooking, hosting, cleaning. Two years ago I graduated university with a bachelors in business and marketing. I apply this knowledge almost daily at work and I am always looking for an opportunity to use this to improve businesses. Whether it be meeting customer needs, improving interior/exterior design, website or social media consultancy, and staff guidance, I'm here to help!

Aside from my education and experience in the service industry, I have a creative side too. I love to create beautiful things for my home and loved ones, including making clothes, jewellery and embroidery. I find it important to nurture my mind through yoga, dance and reading as a part of a balanced lifestyle. I am very keen to learn more about gardening and living more sustainably and want to absorb as much knowledge from people around the world.

Last year I spent five months in the french alps during the winter season as a luxury chalet host where I cared for new clients every week, this involved managing a chalet to myself, deep cleaning and cooking the guests' meals. I had to learn quickly and pay attention to fine details, which was not a problem for me as I thrive in a tidy and organised environment. On our time off I was snowboarding down the slopes and making friends with other seasonaires. This was especially fun as I am half french and it was a great opportunity to speak more of my second language. I’m also very interested in learning how to speak Spanish. I'm a beginner but it is one of the key reasons I want to spend time in Central America.
