Description
Hey, I'm Ike!
I'm 23 and just graduated university with a degree in Geology. After studying the Earth's layers for 5 years, I’m ready to get out and explore the world on a different level. I have an ever-growing passion for travel and language learning, and I fell for the Netherlands and Poland during previous visits. I’m eager to truly immerse myself in the daily life and culture of these amazing countries while making great friendships in the process.
I’m driven by a love for creativity, learning, and laughter. I’m a painter, filmmaker, actor, and a musician. I love cooking from scratch fresh out of my garden when possible. DIY is right up my alley - I always have some sort of project on the go.
Though I may not have direct experience in areas like farming or renovations, I’m a fast learner who’s not afraid to get my hands dirty. Working and living in the remote Canadian wilderness as an exploration geologist taught me the values of staying positive and embracing any challenges and learned just how powerful cooperation and teamwork can be. I’m excited to get out there and bring this spirit to my next Workaway project. Let’s get in touch!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I have several culinary hobbies, I bake all of my own bread, make homemade pasta and chocolate, and was an avid cheesemaker for several years. I have a backyard garden that has been a great learning opportunity. I have loved learning to cultivate all sorts of herbs and vegetables.
I can effectively communicate in English and Dutch, and in French and Russian to some degree. I am currently focusing on my Polish, but I am always eager to pick up any new language to expand the ways I can connect with people. I get some of my purest joy from learning new languages.
I have worked long hours outside performing manual labor under all weather conditions. In exploration geology, the stakes can be high, anything can go wrong, and any piece of equipment can break. I learned to adapt to ever-changing conditions and to promptly problem-solve under duress.
I am very crafty and skilled with my hands. I have built all sorts of props and sets for video projects. I have worked with wood on projects such as historical replica shields. In leisure, I may paint on canvas, but I also have experience painting walls, doors, and other interior spaces.
I was part of the core leadership team of a volunteer charity group in high school, raising over $10,000 to build a school in India. We collaborated to plan events, manage funds, network, and accomplish our goals. As an actor I have furthered these skills. I love the community that theatre brings and the balance that is reached between fostering a fun community and hard-work.
